Thank you so much for this set of videos! I watch it every time I give my mares their haircuts just for a refresher. There are some great tips here and the whole process is demystified by the groomer's easy going nature. Thank you!!

Thank you very much for this, I'm a contract show groom with mostly Arabian and Saddlebred clients. I do have one Friesian client that breeds, and from her I've gained another with carriage horses. This last one is holding a clinic soon and asked me to come out to get her horses ready. Her Friesian pair I knew I could do, but her Fjord pair I wanted to make sure I got right since one of the participants is an experienced Fjord owner! She actually hired me to ensure her horses would be just right! lol I'm so glad I did my research and found your very thorough video! I would have probably just used my clippers!

This has been so helpful, I can't wait to cut the mane of a fjord we are leasing from Dec 1 - right now his mane is just such a mess because they have left it long to braid for shows (which we have found out is not necessary - just the tail needs to be braided!) THANK YOU

I absolutely love your channel! I hope some day that I can get a horse- since I live in a more city like suburb, I only get to see horses about once every 2 years- I've only ridden on them three times in my life.

Love the video and will definitely use this as a example when I cut the manes of my Fjord next time. Only one question. My Fjord has a really thick mane (both black and white parts). What is the best way to cut the mane? Do I need to thin it? Thanks for the answer.

I have a fjord Quarter horse cross. He is a rescue and it looks like his name was cut in this way once. His mane is brown and black instead of white and black. I'd like to know how to get it to stand up after it's been flopped over for some time. And how do I tell if his hair will naturally grow in an upwards direction?

+Beauty Beanie For your Fjord-cross you can try roaching it down to his neck and then trim it using the method shown in the video as it grows back. His mane hair may not be quite stiff enough to hold the shape, though you will only know if you try.

I am watching these for the future, because I want a fjord so badly. Hiw would you describe them? Calm, annoying, or just plain cute? Thank you in advance

I have a Norwegian Fjord and my riding teacher owns a mare born in your stables, Bluebird Lane Oriole! What kind of scissor do you use when cutting a mane? Do you use kitchen scissor or..? When I cut mane, the results are always nice, but with better scissor it would be amazing!

What are Fjords like, riding wise? I am a show jumper, starting to train more in dressage so I can compete in all 3 events and really wanting a Fjord for my next horse. Are they too big and bulky for dressage and high speed jumping or they are a good allrounder that can excel with training? (I know ever horse is different, but Im just asking this as a general way) Thanks :) Beautiful horse and great looking mane, thanks for the tips

Lizzie Annells I’ve seen Fjords all over in English and western. People say they tend do be stubborn, but that’s only if you try to fight or “be the boss” around them. They are absolutely WONDERFUL dressage horses. I have a friend who does jumpers with her fjord as well.

I'm going to buy a fjord horse for myself, to jump, to hack, and just to groom it everyday. I have lots of time after school to take care of it, and I would love to clip its mane into triangles. I'm about 10 so we can keep him until he's really old. Anyone got any tips?

Millie do you have a fjord now?

A) Did you hear the fly buzz across towards the 7-8 minute part of the video? XD and B) why would you recommend wearing steel toe boots? I've always been told to never wear steel toed boots around horses, cus if they get their weight on you for real, you can say bye bye to your toes.
@kathybaca11 жыл бұрын
As a dog groomer, I guessed correctly, and thank you for the demo.
@svorkoetter12 жыл бұрын
Actually, the weight of a horse will not compress a steel toed boot. The amount of energy in an impact depends on both the weight of the thing hitting you, and how fast it's going. Dropping a 100lb rock on your foot will hit you harder than a 1000lb horse stepping on it. I've had my feet stepped on several times, and with the steel toed boots, you don't even feel it. BTW, steel toed boots are mandatory for staff and students at the Large Animal Clinic at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph.
