Excellent wood working skills. I bet you’d do great in the furniture business, too! 😄 I hope that sad looking keg in the background is full to keep you going through the build…

The keg is empty… And it has been for far to long. 😔

Man this is great to watch. Wish I could be doing the stringers in my boat myself, but lack of space and experience means a restoration shop is doing it. Hopefully they do work half as good as you!!
@AutoTechNick2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Don’t let experience stop you from taking on a new project. There is only one way to learn and get the experience… and that’s by diving in and getting your hands dirty. Now the space issue is harder to overcome! I CANNOT wait until I can get the boat out of my shop! I need the space badly… Hopefully your project goes smoothly For you and the shop doing the work. ~ Nick

Great work I’ve been watching all your videos in preparation of doing stringers and potential problems that I may encounter on my 77 southwind 21’ mini day jet, my boat is currently a 1/4 stringer boat but wanting to put full stringers in. I see you’re a Washington boat as I am too in Bonney Lake

Thanks Derrick! Small world. I am up in the Seattle area. Maybe someday we'll meet up on the water. Sounds like you're planning on a decent-sized project by going to the full stringer setup... You will have plenty of work to keep you busy for a while! Best of luck with your build! ~ Nick

Nice work once again Nick! Can't wait for the upcoming videos. Did you mention the dimentions of the wood you are using? If you did please disregard my question. Thanks again Nick keep up the good work!

Thank you! 🙏 the new stringers are 2x6 and for my boat they were 16 feet long. ~ Nick

Hello, you mentioned the hull of the boat having a V shape and you cut on your inside measured line so the stringer was cut on the long side. After that did you cut the bottom of the stringer at an angle so it matches the angle of the bottom of the boat?
@AutoTechNick Жыл бұрын
Excellent question Shane. After making my initial cut on the inside (long side) of the stringer, I then flipped the board over. Since I marked both sides of the wood, the mark for the outside was still present since it is the short side. I made my initial trim with a jig saw, by giving the blade a step angle. I then used my 8" grinder to grind the wood down to the mark. I did not remove any wood from the inside edge that I just cut. This is what gave my wood the bevel that I needed to match the shape of the hull. I cover this around the 17:09 mark in the video. ~ Nick

Where did you find the wood for the transom and stringers??
@AutoTechNick10 ай бұрын
I purchased it from a local lumber yard. They had to order the wood for the stringers, but had the marine plywood in stock.

@@AutoTechNick do you think a big box store would be able to order it?
