Hello Esther, This is Sophia from Canada 🇨🇦and I love Kaftan dress to wear. But as a beginner I hesitated to stitch for myself. I watched your video on KZbin which encouraged me to stitch. Esther, I’m X-Large size and my measurements are as follows:- Shoulders 15 inches, Bust 42 inches, Underbust 40 inches, Waist 38 inches, Hip 48 inches and Full Length 50 inches. I’ll be very grateful if you could guide me that what changes I should mark for myself according to my measurements. For example #1: you have marked from shoulder to down 11 inches. #2: My waist length is 15 inches. So I should mark according to your marks or mine?? Please let me know at your earliest convenience! AND Thank you once again for sharing this wonderful video of Kaftan and very grateful for the tutorial with excellent explanations.

Hello Sophia. Thank you for watching and subscribing to this channel, I know you will get value in it. God bless you. 1. You need to use your own accurate body measurements.and if this is wrong it can affect your fit or garment. 2. Take your vertical measurements properly and horizontal as well. Vertical measurements means from the shoulder going down (e.g. shoulder to bust point, shoulder to under bust, shoulder to waist, shoulder to hip, etc...) Horizontal measurements are your measurements around the body (e.g bust: 42 inches). Remember this kaftan is a free dress, you can add 2 inches to it or more depending on how fit you want( e.g bust 42 divided by 4 =10.5 add 2= 12.5 inches ) . The normal shoulder is cutting together with the sleeves (e.g.shoulder 15 divide by 2=7.5 then add the sleeve length to it). 3. Don't be scared of making mistakes, we all learn from our mistakes.
