Thanks for your tutorial pls if I want the flared to be fuller wat radius will I use and how many flared will I cut out. Thank you.
@sophiagarment
@sophiagarment 3 жыл бұрын
If you want you flare fuller, you will be cutting a 360degree flare and the radius will be 6.28,but you will have to cut two 180degree flare to get your actual length without joining the bottom of the flare.so to do that you will divide your waist plus the seam allowance by 2 and then divide the answer by 3.14 E.g 34/2=17 17/3.14=8 So 8 is my radius which means i will be cutting two 180degree flare since i have divided the waist by two. But If you want to cut it has one (360degree flare)e.g waist 34/6.28=5.5 So for 360degree flare you don't need to divide your waist by two. then you will have to join the bottom because you won't get your actual length unless the material you are working with is 60inches by length.

So to know you radius you need to determine the type of flare you want to cut and the radius of the flare 369=6.28 180=3.14 90=1.57

Pls ma'am did u join d front top to d flair bcos i dont understand how d rope it's been wrapped, thanks ma
@sophiagarment
@sophiagarment 2 жыл бұрын
After joining the front and back bodice together at shoulder and at the sides, you will also leave little space of 1.5 inches on one side of the upper bodice which is where one of the rope will pass through. Know that each rope is attached to the front bodice, you then join the flare around the waist and use the rope to tie it.

Greetings, ma'am. Thanks for your teaching. Please ma, could you kindly do a full detailed tutorial on this? From the beginning till end, without omitting any, so that the upcoming designers like me will have a better understanding of the actual thing you did. The illustration you did on paper, I felt it would have been clearer you showing it to us on the fabrics as you were doing it. Once more, thank you for your passionate way of teaching. I await your response and kind action. Thanks, Boss.

@sophiagarment
@sophiagarment 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on your size, 3.5 to 4 yards of fabric with length 60 inches can do it, but it all depends on your size.

How do you know how to differentiate the back from the front before starting the measurement as you did
@sophiagarment
@sophiagarment 3 жыл бұрын
I had measured the back first by using the biggest part of the upper body and then adding the seam allowance. then use it to measure the front bodice too because the wrap is going to be at the front, you will need to add extra allowance to the front for the wrap just like i did before you proceed to other measurements.

Thank you. Pls what's the length of each rope
@sophiagarment
@sophiagarment 3 жыл бұрын
You can either make both ropes same length or make one shorter than the other one. The length of the rope depends on your waist, you can use your waist measurement plus 36 inches e.g waist 32 + 36 =68 inches but if one will be shorter use 36 inches and 68 inches for the longer one by using your waist measurement.You should be able to tie the rope twice around your waist if both ropes are long.

Do you mean the cutting?
@jessicaamrich
@jessicaamrich 3 жыл бұрын
Yes the part I got lost was when you cutting the down part of the dress
@sophiagarment
@sophiagarment 3 жыл бұрын
For the down part, it's a half circle so to get the radius of the half circle, you need to calculate your waist measurement plus the overlap allowance and folding allowance (you know the bodice is in two pieces and is going to be overlaped) ,for example i used 5 inches for the overlap and since is in two pieces that makes it 10 inches also add folding allowance of 2 inches (1 inche on both sides of the flare) so 30+10+2=42, 42/3.14= What ever the answer is, that is going to be your radius using your own measurement please . So you will then add your waist measurement, the overlap and the folding allowance together and divide it by 3.14 to get the radiu. Note: to get the radius of a full circle you will use 6.28 but since i use a half circle then you will use half of 6.28 which is 3.14 So follow this steps to cut the lower part and watch the video again for more clarity..

@@sophiagarment Alright, ma. Please, after getting the circle, assuming I'm using 360, do I have to split it for front and back before attaching to the main bodice or I should go ahead and attach it straight to the bodice as a single piece as it is? Also, how do I go about sameif it's a 180 flare? Thank you, ma.

Pls is there any zipper,if no how will the person wear it
@sophiagarment
@sophiagarment 3 жыл бұрын
There is no zipper at the back, that's why it a wrap dress. Since you have added enough allowance for the front overlap which allows you to wrap the dress with the help of the rope you will attach, there won't be need for a zipper at the back. Which means you will first wear it like a jacket before wrapping it to your body.

How many yards pls
@sophiagarment
@sophiagarment 3 жыл бұрын
Ok, it depends on your body size, i made the dress for an extra large, bust 44, waist 37 and gown length 43 and i used 3.5 yards of crepe but if you are using African print then you will use more than that. For you to know how much fabric to use, simply calculate your waist radius then add the flare length, also calculate the half length, both the vertical and horizontal measurement and the sleeve then calculate all together to get the actual yards of fabric you need.
