Hi from Australia😀Thank you for such a well explained video. I will be building my own house myself and am considering to do a split skillion roof (I think you might call it a double shed roof, over there.) I like the idea of completely notching the rafter, rather than just a birds mouth at each end. I think it provides extra strength to the roof- to stop it from sliding off. I was going to fully notch both ends of each rafter, but I can see from your excellent video, that I will only need to do the lower end and it will give the same effect that I want. I was planning to drill a large hole in each of the 2 corners of the notch, then using a jigsaw- tidy up the corners and then cut between the holes (surface that will sit on top plate). This could have been very time consuming and messy. I like your technique better. Thank you for saving me a nightmare!!

@@RobinKanters-k4q Thank you. I have now built a few roofs and this method of cutting birds mouth seems to be the quickest and easiest. Best of luck to you on your build. Wish we could share pics in the comments. I'd love to see what you build.

@@WillMosbey Thanks for your reply and encouragement. I am not very good with this modern technology, but might be able to work out something once the project gets going.
