be good to see the next stage where you stabilise the fabric and turn into blocks etc.

thank you so much for posting this video. i'm so glad i found your channel. you have one new subscriber. i knew how to cut clothes already, but i saw your pov for leaving the sleeve on for color because the brush was closer. i too am making a clothing quilt and i also realized a few days ago that i should buy use a plain color to offset the patterns. i look forward to seeing more videos! would you also use a quilting block ruler to cut and a rotary cutter, when cutting out the design?

Really helpful! Thanks! I'm new to quilting. I'm not sure what starching or stabilizing is . . . things to look up.

Do you have a tip for cutting and using a shirt with a zipper for a memory quilt?

Hi Alicia. We reached out to Suzanne who had some wonderful information for you (I am including it here for the benefit of future viewers who may be wondering the same thing). "When deciding whether to incorporate a zipper into a memory quilt, the first thing I consider is the tactile impact of the zipper - meaning, will it be too bulky? Do I want the quilt to be very soft and snuggly? And therefore a zipper would impact this in a negative way. Or am I making a wall hanging, in which case the softness or comfort is less of an issue? Generally, I will not put a zipper in a quilt that is to be used. But this is a personal choice - I want the quilt to feel good against skin and to not have any hard edges. If I have a piece of clothing with a zipper in this case, I eliminate it completely from the piece of clothing. Or, in some cases - like a child’s zippered pajamas that might have a graphic or design detail that goes across the zipper- if I want to keep the graphic or detail intact, I’ll remove the zipper and replace it with a seam. In cases where you decide to use the zipper, it can be nice to highlight it, and/or keep it’s functionality within the quilt. For example, add a piece of fabric underneath the zipper, so when opened it reveals another fabric or piece of clothing underneath. Think how you can use the zipper to your advantage rather than working around it!"
