Special tree pruning BLADES:
9 inch amzn.to/2zhswYV
12 inch amzn.to/2KDTCP4
Makita Sawzall I used: amzn.to/2LY6sox
Makita Sawzall cordless: amzn.to/2M1kBRE
This video is a "quick" way to cut down a tree and remove trunk with a reciprocating saw and a truck. I used a demo blade because it was the only one I had. DO NOT use a demo blade (of course, if it's all you got then use it - because it did work). I would use pruning blades which I have linked below.

Get yourself a 12" pruning blade... I haven't had to use a chainsaw around the house since I bought mine.

You are so right! Honestly, this project came about when I was cutting some small limbs back. After getting pricked numerous times, It became man vs tree!lol I had wanted to take it out for a bit and the makita with demo blade was all I had at the house. Going to pin your comment to share with others because a 12 or 9" pruning blade is the way to go. I have a link to amazon for it in the description. Thank you for watching and your comment.

If/when you do, get special blade for trimming trees. I made due with what I had, it worked but probably would have gone faster with right blade. Tip: Don't do it when it's 100 outside like I did! Thank you for watching

Love the idea about digging to get as much root out as possible. Although I have an oak tree, this is awesome to help with not having a huge trunk left after being cut down. Cant wait.

for most trees after cutting a it down to about 4 feet (no limbs or leaves left) lightly dig around its base, pour a ton of salt around the roots, give it about 3 weeks, and then just push the tree real hard, and keep pushing, and it will come out with its root. it works best in areas with soft soil

Used a Dewalt 20V reciprocating saw with "demolition blade" to cut down two trees yesterday. Friend helped with a rope while wife was up on roof topping the trees with my Dewalt pole saw. Pole saw not meant for horizontal cuts but it was the best we could do with where trees were located. All went well. Trees safely topped with the pole saw and trunks cut down with the reciprocating saw. Loaded into my trailer and off to the landfill tomorrow. You can do a lot with a good reciprocating saw ("sawzall"). At some point I'll invest in a solid, gasoline-powered chainsaw.

Quick question… At any time during this process, were you thinking… Most accidents happen at home! Lol that’s awesome. Screw chainsaws!
@gregblackburn4280
@gregblackburn4280 Жыл бұрын
@@how2q No, it did not, for the simple reasons I wasn't at home and I put safety first on everything I do. Thank you. I don't hate chainsaws, it's just that what I do doesn't typically require those. At some point I want to get a good Stihl for such work but I'm more interested in getting a leaf vacuum right now.

If you do use a sawmill, there are blades specifically for pruning (trees). Thanks! Good video man. I have a 2-3 foot tree stump. Do you think a sawzall would be good to get that out? I have a sawzall and a chainsaw but the chainsaw is electric and can't be brought to the stump easily.
@how2q
@how2q 5 жыл бұрын
I think either "wood" work. I wanted a clean kill on the stump so it meant digging down to cut roots and stump out - that was the key for me to get the stump out whether it was with a chainsaw or with a sawzall. Sawzall was a little easier to work with in tight places down in the dirt.. Honestly, I didn't have access to chainsaw until very end hence the sawzall. If you can, use a pruning blade (which again I didn't get ahead of time) get one!
