For a bored very complicated like this why not just mark the edges of the wall with chalk set a bored on there and bang it a few times so it gives u a line u can u just cut out from ?

Because the shape is like a trapezoid. Smaller on top, larger on bottom, but even more complicated. Drywall typically comes in 8, 9, 10, 12 footers, and can get them in 14 some places. You physically can't get a board up there to be able to mark it like that. You have to find all the angles just to get it up there. But you can't find the angles easily due to how the shape is, so you really do have to map it all out, making your own reference points. He could of not done the little cut that goes up and in at the bottom, and then scored it from the back. But he knows what he's doing, faster to just cut it rather than moving his bench to the other side to back cut it. I've been doing this for 4 years but never union work. I've also never had to measure and cut a board like this. I could do it, but it would take me much longer than him. I've legitimately just never had to. The companies I've worked for also do all our own finish work, for me, just faster to do it in two pieces and coat it out. It would be a good learning experience though. I'm not bad at hanging or finishing, but I am slower than guys like this who've been doing for decades. I also do have bad days, I make mistakes. Decades of experience really helps on bad days, when you know exactly how things are done, when you have that muscle memory, I just have memory.
