I have cut many Portuguese cut stones big and small it's my all time favorite cut! I made a 315 ct. out of Smokey quartz. It's a great cut but a real pain to do, takes a lot of time! You did a fantastic cut! Something to be proud of! Thanks for the video.

That thing's a beast! I ordered some flat laps today and I think they're the same one's you use. I haven't got them yet but the picture showed the same label.

You should have no issues with them. When finished using them make sure you rinse them and wipe water beads off the back as left too long with water on them they will rust on the back. Great discs for the price. Mine came in a pack of 4 ranging from 3000 , 1200, 800,600 grit they cost about $24 AU. I ordered 2 separate ones that were 240 and a 100 grit and they grind material like you wouldn't believe ( they cost around $14 each). Just be careful with those 2 as they are so aggressive when new they can chip outer edges facets so easily, particularly the 100 grit. Once used for some time not so bad. The 240 disc is now my go to disc for a quick grind, then I move on to the 800 grit. Happy faceting. Thanks for watching. Cheers

How do you insure that rod mounting was perfectly centered? Sounds like a nightmare to accomplish perfectly.

You use a transfer block and secure the dop sticks so they are perfectly centered to each other. Its shown briefly when he first glues it onto the dop stick after preforming it.

mic poli It is not all that easy even with the transfer jig. Especially if you use wax. Sometimes when I transfer, the stone will come slightly off center because of the heat. I kinda sucks.
