@@VintageTimeGems Sorry if some people did not understand my reference. It's from a Steven Universe. And honestly though, I really enjoy watching your videos. I own some rough crystals as well. And I sometimes think of what they might look like if they were to be faceted. And watching your videos makes me feel so good. You create things from something that is rough and irregularly shaped into something that is beautiful and worth looking at.

I love peridot. It's my birthstone, and my favorite color is green. I recently got an 11 carat stone at a modest price, being that it has eye visible inclusions, but the green is so rich in hue, that I fell in love with it. I had it set in a silver ring and hope to pass it in the future as an heirloom. Love your videos. Keep em coming! I'm excited on which stone you will cut. (The citrine or topaz)

I am learning, cutting my 2nd stone, I do not understand how/to cut to center? I think I am doing it but I find out later that my girdle, is way out on align. I try to look at it all during the cut but it’s just to small to really see, so I got different power loops, but it’s still difficult to get in alignment or centered. What are you looking at to accomplish this cut to center? I am thinking of adding a needle on a post to point to girdle so when I spin it will show me what is cut short or long? Also thinking of setting up a computer microscope so when I raise up stone I can view it on a 8x10 screen?

Lovely shield shape and faceting. You've really confused me as to the difference between Topaz and Peridot. Is there any rule-of-thumb method of telling the difference in smaller, picker-sized, raw stones?
@peteynutt41045 жыл бұрын
Peridots are always a shade of green yellow. Topaz tends to be yellow but can be blue pink red peach white or even purple.
@jeanphillippes21965 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yellow-Green i would say describes the colour. Since my local creek is an ancient volcano run-off, that would probably indicate Olivine from lava. I'll definitely keep an eye for more, but ones recovered so far are too small.
@peteynutt41045 жыл бұрын
@@jeanphillippes2196 olivine tends to form smalln another reason for its rarity in gemologist culture. Gems exceeding 3 cm are not very common and those exceeding 10 cm are down right rare. Fun fact: the largest gemstone of peridot crafted was a whopping 187 carats I know because I operated a rock shop and my boss bought it it was found in San Carlos Arizona it's a simple round cut gem and probably older then world warI.

When you choose the pattern do you want to cut extremely important to choose that pattern with the right R I ( refractive index ) if you choose the wrong one for that stone which is paradigm it won’t sparkle correctly just look up refractive index for peridot or refractive index for a ruby for me for active index for sapphire and ruby is sapphire so saying refractive index
