Laminating the paper or cardstock before cutting the letters is brilliant! Much better than trimming the excess laminate from the letters. 🤦‍♀️ You have so many helpful hints in this video: prepping 2 or 3 mats so you are utilizing the time one is being cut to weed or prep, not removing the mat if need to recut same product (instead select flashing cricut button twice), changing the pressure (and saving in a custom setting) to reduce the cutting time,...

First year teacher here👋 I am SO glad I watched this before cutting all my bulletin boards and decor! How did these hold up long-term? Did the laminate peel off/curl at the edges as the year progressed?

Thanks for watching! I had no issues all year, but I also left my bulletin boards up and alone. I took them down at the end of the year and most held up well. I saved them for use again in the future. :)

I do this too, but I run the cutouts again through the laminator to reseal the edges. I make bookmarks.

I laminate 2 sheets back to back then cut the laminating on the edges, so u get 2 cardstockes with one side of laminate. i cut on the paper side, works great! Make sure you flip the design if you want the laminate on the front of the letters. Otherwise it will cut the letters showing paper side facing. but still have the strength of laminate.

Also there is a plastic packaging setting on there, and it cuts twice around, for anyone needing that setting.

I used an explore air. I think if you are just cutting paper an explore air is good.

Did you search in the all materials for it? I set mine as a favorite to make it easy to find without having to go to the all materials tab. If that doesn't work, maybe close out the app and open it back up to see if it is there. If not, try again and see if that works.

Did you have to do an offset on the letters?? Wouldnt they come unsealed?

I did not. I just cut them. I had one or two come a little loose on an edge, but I was using the letters for a bunch of library bulletin boards and it has worked well. I plan to keep them up for a while. Maybe if I was handling them often and moving them a lot, I might have more issues? But for what I needed, this worked really well. :)

I started cutting out my laminated cardstock but for some reason it’s bubbling up and unlamented my letters. It seems to be more with the black paper is this normal? Or am I doing it wrong? 😅 any tips are appreciated!

I didn't have that happen. But I will say the black did have a little lifting. None of my other colors did. I just put the lifted side at the back.

I keep getting an error - machine cannot read sensor marks

Sensor marks are usually for print then cut. This video did not use print then cut? Did you print letters, then laminate, then cut? I just laminated the cardstock and then cut my letters so no registration marks were needed. If that is not it, then maybe you need more light on your machine? Sometimes if it is dark it cannot pick up the paper is ready...

It is thermal. Not self laminating. I just use the Walmart brand most of the time. Whatever I find on sale or is the least expensive at the store I visit. :)

I used various cardstocks that I no longer have packaging for, sorry. Most were from packs from Michaels or Hobby Lobby. All letter size. Same for laminate. 8.5x11. 3mil.

I always measure my space the letters will go (so 4 feet maybe,,,) then I type the letters and then size the box to the 4 feet or whatever it needs to be. Sometimes I adjust if I see that just by making things a little smaller I can fit more on a page.

Thanks for watching! It is just the standard fine point blade that came with the machine. Actually, I have yet to ever change it. I just poke it with a ball of foil to clean it and it keeps on cutting. :)

I used my explore. I have to go back and watch the video as I don't remember off the top of my head. I made a custom setting which I saved so I don't have to do it again. I walk you through that in the video partway through.
