You're right about not getting the larger clean full face boulder. Turned out beautiful for sure Robert. I usually don't use paper anymore but I see the finish on especially boulder turns out with much more depth when using the paper to get to the polish point. I generally work with Ridge material but have had a kilo of boulder setting around for a couple of years and you've inspired me to pull it out and have a go using your method. It'll definitely bring back memories! Cheers!!

Thanks for your feedback. This was easy. Usually work with diamond burs, paste and felt to get results on uneven surface boulder. Good luck with your boulder.

really nice.removing the bare spots certainly improved the look and i am sure the value.i cut for size first and then make the best decision i can.some times i win, other times i should have gone fishing.enjoyed the video.

Thanks for your comments. I like pattern in lower grade boulder even if its weak colour, so I leave them in sometimes. Don't mind the idea of fishing but not having much luck lately.

Beautiful stone! I think I personally would have sliced the bottom better colour off right from where the mark on the side is and make a big ring and pendant pair. Very nice boulder material!!

When its set in jewellery the marks wont be so obvious. Still have a couple of other pieces to try that with though.

Absolutely beautiful. I've been looking for some rough boulder to cut. However, haven't yet found any full faced boulder opal or anything even close. This video will keep me motivated during the hunt.

I think being a miner requires a lot of commitment. Good luck, I hope you find some full faced boulder soon.

@@diverseopalproducts Definitely, appreciate the encouragement! However, I probably should have been a bit more precise with my wording. I'm hunting for decent boulder opal online. Having said that, I'd definitely give mining a shot if I lived in Australia. Your country is truly blessed with beautiful natural resources.

@@bentationfunkiloglio I understand now. Yes, we are blessed with many types of gemstones in Australia. Its not easy to find full faced boulder anywhere. I acquired these pieces a couple of years ago from a friend who is mining.
