Snapped the corner off in first tile :D. But regarding the cutter. Can you get nice straight edge from it? (similar to new tile edge) Or you taking new tile for every piece you need?
@TileMountain15 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike - thanks for your comment. When cutting large format tiles with a tile cutter as demonstrated, the resulting edge should be fairly straight (i.e. straight enough to be unnoticeable) but not 100% straight as they are when they leave the factory. This is because during production tile manufacturers use precision cutting equipment to create what are called rectified edges on some tiles. Not all tiles have rectified edges however. Hope this answers your question. Tile Mountain

What about thickness? Guess i can't use this to cut 20mm outdoor tiles?
@boverton724 жыл бұрын
nice video, but it didn't work, the tile chipped in the corner. So, that wasted probably a 6 sq/ft tile???
@anteka124 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I noticed that as well. That first large tile wasn't cut properly and chipped. I have some 1 foot x 2 foot tiles that I need to cut lengthwise. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKmnfZKnnr-Knqs

Hi Craig, can you cut 60 x 30 porcelain tiles in half and use those halves in addition to the larger whole tile to create a modular look? I have slate look porcelain tiles
@TileMountain14 жыл бұрын
While this may be possible, you would need to consider that, when doing this, you would have some tiles that have 3 finished edges and one unfinished edge where it has been cut, this may not look especially clean if there are uneven edges throughout the floor. Tile Mountain

Can you use the wet saw.ypu profiled at the end on a large format tile? Say 1000 mm long for rip cuts?
@TileMountain15 жыл бұрын
Hi Beech1900pilot - thanks for your comment. You could use a wet wheel cutter on any tile technically, however with larger tiles you may not be able to get the stability you need to achieve an accurate cut. Hope this helps. Tile Mountain

@TileMountain15 жыл бұрын
Hi Ginger - thanks for your comment. For cutting out specific shapes from large format tiles, we would recommend a water jet cutter or an angle grinder. The latter method can be done yourself if you feel confident enough (although it does take a bit of perseverance). The former would involve finding a specialist company that offers this service as it requires specialist equipment. Hope this helps! Tile Mountain

Can someone recommend me a quality tile cutter that can cut 600x600 8mm thick porcelain tile, also something that won't break the bank. I'm really struggling on finding a good one there's split opinions everywhere
@TileMountain14 жыл бұрын
The 600mm Manual Tile Cutter on our website would do this for you. However, if you are looking to spend as little as possible, if it is just the one project you are undertaking, it may be worth looking into hiring a cutter for a day instead of buying one. Tile Mountain.
