🇺🇸 Short hair was already a sign of real strength and independence - only after the First World War in the 1920s did women start wearing short hairstyles (mostly bob with perm). They stood for the working, active woman and were a sign of the liberation from old social structures. It got even shorter in the 1960s. The model Twiggy made the pixie famous. That too was a real revolution, after all really short hair was only for men at that time. But Twiggy and her pixie prevailed - millions of women copied the cut and emulated the cover images of the mannequin. By the way, the name Pixie means elf. The cut bears the name because it not only gives its wearers something strong, but also something elven and delicate at the same time.
🇩🇪 Schon früher waren kurze Haare ein Zeichen echter Stärke und Unabhängigkeit - erst nach dem ersten Weltkrieg in den 1920er-Jahren fingen Frauen an, Kurzhaarfrisuren zu tragen (meist Bob mit Dauerwelle). Sie standen für die arbeitende, aktive Frau und waren ein Zeichen für die Befreiung von alten gesellschaftlichen Strukturen. Noch kürzer wurde es dann in den 1960er Jahren. Den Pixie berühmt gemacht hat das Model Twiggy. Auch das war eine echte Revolution, schließlich waren richtig kurze Haare zu dieser Zeit nur was für Männer. Doch Twiggy und ihr Pixie setzten sich durch - Millionen Frauen kopierten den Schnitt und eiferten den Cover-Bildern des Mannequins nach. Der Name Pixie bedeutet übrigens Elfe (auf Englisch). Der Schnitt trägt den Namen, weil er seinen Trägerinnen nicht nur etwas Starkes, sondern gleichzeitig auch etwas Elfenhaftes und Zartes verleiht.
