I started cutting up old clothing when I was a teenager. I taught myself and figured out (by making mistakes) all the tricks on how to easily alter clothes. I used to use a machine, but now I do hand sewing and lots of things with just scissors.
T-shirts are my favourite because they are easy to cut up and don’t fray when they are cut. This means you can make all sorts of designs by just cutting them, and don't have to worry about sewing hems or finishing seams. Just cut and go!
Most tutorials take less than five minutes and you can learn how to experiment with your own ideas and designs. I just give you the basic techniques.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! The first and only time I tried to cut the neckline of a t-shirt I never thought of turning it on its side and cutting both sides together. So of course it was uneven and in trying to fix it I made the neckline enormous, like not even an off-the-shoulder, more like a slip-right-down-to-the-floor! 😂 I really appreciate your clear instructions, thanks again 🌺❤️

Thanks for this video!! I used this technique a few times before (not even with great scissors), using pins to keep the fabric in place. Tried to do it again with good fabric scissors, but somehow I can't seem to smoothen the shirt and keep it smooth while cutting, so there are little 'bites' where the folds were when I cut it. Help!

That sucks! Are you still using the pins? I don’t use pins maybe that is the problem? Just make sure it’s really smooth around the neck before you start cutting and try not to move the shirt around when you cut… At least you got good scissors! That will help

It will be a higher collar, less of a scoop neck. But still cool!

Totally! Still looks great. Always nicer with a lower neckline, and the rest is up to you! But I do this to all my shirts of every size

I don’t know if this is a normal thing that people usually sew, but I inherited a vintage dress with a wide open back and I want to either close the back or make it into a keyhole back…. And I don’t know how. I was wondering if it was possible to have some kind of tutorial on it, because you make it so easy to understand, and I haven’t found a video that would explain how to do that

It will not fray! Cotton is a knit fabric so it doesn’t come apart when cut! It’s really cool to discover ... you can trust me!

On what part of the cutting under the collar do you drop the 2-fingers wide rule and cut closer to the collar? Do you begin doing this before you reach the shoulder seams?

Start cutting two fingers below the collar and start curving back closer to the collar...by the time you reach the shoulder you should be aiming for where the shoulder seam and collar meet
