Question - is that an angle grinder you're using with the blade you described? Would I use the same tool & blade to cut siding that's already installed? I'm venting a range hood to the exterior (vs. recirculating inside kitchen) for my kitchen remodel. It has a 6" diameter round exhaust. Thanks for your advice / expertise.

You can use any angle grinder to get it done. The one I am using is a Dewalt 4.5" with a cheap metal wafer wheel. they are $2-4. Yes! you can definitely use it to cut the siding in place. I would recommend nothing else. Just take your time. Any further questions please feel free.

Just to clarify.. when you say metal wheel, you mean a 4.5" abrasive metal cutting disc for the angle grinder. That's for the army of KZbin home improvement noobs.

@@jt8907 You got it! We call them wafer wheels. Cheapest ones you can buy. Thin cutting wheels. Metal or masonry, they both work great.

Can you use this tool to cut through the siding while on the house? I'd like to cut out a hole to attach a hose winder holder whatever it is called without using a hole saw which I've seen on other videos.

I didn't do the siding on the house. Additionally it's an HOA and the porch roof has to be at the exact same height as the neighbors, window reveal, etc. Everything has to look the same.

Very dangerous and eventually you will get a cutting wheel in the head or a piece will cut you bad or kill you. Never use an angle grinder with a fiber wheel and no guard.

@@bestseedorchard1107 ive been using a grinder longer than i haven't, and have never had a kick back while cutting vinyl, metal sure, but vinyl, absolutely not. Is it possible... I guess, likely.. i think not. That one blade will last an entire siding job, if not multiple, because its cutting vinyl, not metal. Hard to damage that wheel with an inferior material. Appreciate your concern, but cutting vinyl with a grinder is not only efficient, but less risky than cutting it with a saw, especially in the cold.
