I did a search for Flowbee because I recently purchased one & was concerned about how well it works with longer hair (About your length & longer). Well obviously, I hit the jackpot! Most of the other videos on KZbin demo it with shorter hair. So, thanks! JP

They are great. Had mine for years since my kids were small. They are adults now and the boys still use one. Good for the puppies too! You can get it at Amazon but last I checked it was cheaper from the company. (I replaced mine after many years 30plus). I plan to start cutting my own long hair just for convienance.

FIrst, let me say thanks for the video. I also get lots of compliments on my haircuts - and I owe it all to my dear husband who does all the work. We own the Robo Cut and we are on our 3rd one in 20+ years. It has served us well. I used to cut my husband's hair, he would cut mine, and it was a big part of our frugal lifestyle. We saved thousands of dollars by NOT going to barbers and hair salons. Two days ago the vacuum portion died - and there is no way we can use the cutter portion with another vacuum. I decided to order the Flowbee as a replacement. Hey - Robo Cut had a faithful customer for 20+ years, so now I am giving Flowbee a chance. Besides, it is made in the U.S.A.! I keep my hair short - about 1 1/2" with tapered sides and back. My hubby no longer gets haircuts - so this should last me forever. I can't wait until it gets here because I am pretty shaggy right now!

Oh my gosh I hope you love it! I haven't tried the new Flowbee, and I'd be super curious to know how it compares to the Robo Cut! Let me know if you think of it 😊

@@jenmarquin Our Flowbee got here Tuesday and my hubby cut my hair that night. It is a bit awkward compared to the RoboCut. I keep my hair at 1.5 inches overall and, in summer, I like it tight over my ears and in back - like the military. Dale did it all without extra clippers, but you can't do that with the Flowbee. I think those pieces with the legs sticking out are to keep the machine perpendicular to the scalp and allow airflow. We hate those. When Dale gets more comfortable with the machine we are going to drill some holes in the spacers for airflow and firget about the feet. We can always get new spacers. The little vacuum that comes with it if you buy the set (adapting anything to out Dyson is a pain in the behind) is really POWERFUL! It is awkward though, and I wish it had feet or some stable base. It nearly fell to the floor a few times. I like the blades better than RoboCut's. We replaced the first two units because wear and tear made the blade shaft shimmy and squeal beyond my tolerance, and they changed the blade design to one that pulled my hair. Now the newer ones have changed again and they look 'cheap' on their website. When I called about it I was told the assembly was all steel, but the support structure was a pretty blue. Looked like plastic to me. I really like the fact that the spacers are fixed lengths. You have a sliding telescopic adjustment on the RoboCut for a larger selection of lengths. I found the assembly would gradually slip and cause uneven lengths during the haircut. I finally put a big rubber band wrapped around to act as a stop. Simple fix, and effective. A few more haircuts and Dale will be a pro again. I hope this long winded post gives you some insight. Both machines have their pros and cons, as most comparisons do. This will pay for itself in a few more haircuts and I will like it even more! Please forgive any typos - I have a bad case of hiccups!😞

@@jenmarquin Just an update. I cut my own hair, 1.5" all over and tapered over the ears and in the back! I hate those little leg parts, but I do like the taper legs with no additional spacer - simply because I don't want to cut my ears!😱 I used a heat tool to poke 2 holes in each end of the 1.5" spacer and that gave me more airflow without having to tip the spacer. I am in love! It was much easier for me to handle on my own than the RoboCut was, but my hubby is slower to convert.

I'm a guy and I bought one about 2 months ago and finally got the courage to try doing my first trim/haircut. I always ask for a short layered cut and I seem to get different versions of this each time I visit a salon. With me it's not just the look but the feel when it's done (Idon't like feeling anything flopping around).Anyways my expectations of my first self haircut were not high so I was pretty nervous. 45 minutes later I looked at what I had done pretty closely and it really wasn't bad at all. I actually would say it was better than some (butnot all) of the trims I get at the salon and what I relly liked was it felt the way I wanted it to right after a trim. The hard part for me is doing the back neck line(I used a razor) and I like my ears trimmed with scissors and I couldn't do that myself so I got my girlfriend to do it. She thought the whole process was hilarious as I had the machine hooked up to a shop vac and It made quite a lot of noise. That being said she was actually quite impressed with the end result and announced she could live with it. I bought mine direct from the company although I had to wait about a month to get one, You can get one on amazon or ebay faster if you want to pay reseller prices and than deal with them if there's an issue. So far I love it.Thanks for your video, I like to watch how different individuals use their flowbee just to learn how to use mine.

Well, this should bee very inspiring. I am totally blind I am a musician. But the thing is is that I cut my own hair. It is super super easy. Well, I started cutting my own hair over 17 years ago, and started with just a beard trimmer. Then I moved to the electric razor to try and cut it and I just ended up shaving everything because the shaver is not a clipper and also, the beard trimmer is not a clipper. People think a trimmer is a clipper but it is not. A trimmer is really meant for finishing touches. Well, as years went by I really needed something to actually cut hair and I invested in a mountain of clippers. They are all different ones. A lot of people who are sighted are even afraid to cut their own hair. I have been asked by people how I cut my hair sense I can not see. Well, it is super simple. I did go to the barber years and years ago and I got the feeling of how the barber cut my hair. Also I can feel with my fingers to see if something is even or not. Also. I have described using the clipper like shaving or using a trimmer but it is on a much bigger and broader scale. With the clippers you can not do anything wrong unless you purposely do it. The clipper will only cut as far down as you want and specify. For someone like myself I take the time to cut my hair just like everyone else. It is super easy. Well, that was my hair cutting journey. It all started out with a beard, and mustache trimmer. Cutting hair with a razor is not the fastest thing in the world at all. It is time consuming and the shaver gets clogged and it messes it up. That is where the clippers come in. I have told people if you can shave with an electric razor and learn how to use a trimmer then the clippers are the next step. Then yo are ready for clippers. Now people when they see my hair they think I have gone to the barber. I tell them “no. I cut it myself!!” And they are so amazed how neat it looks. So if I had to describe how it is like it use the clippers it is like using a trimmer but on a broader scale. The clipper is wider than a trimmer and the teeth are much much deeper than the trimmer. The clipper does the main work it is doing the bulk of the work and then you would bring a trimmer in to finish it off. Even today when I shave I use also. A trimmer along side with the razor. I have high end razors too. You can use them with shaving cream or without. They are electric wet/dry ones. But when I am shaving dry I will have a trimmer along side the razor for the finish touch. It is not necessary because the razor can do everything just great, but to help the razor out it is nice to have the trimmer before shaving so it can cut down the longer hair to help the razor out. Then usually what I will do after shaving is bring back the trimmer and finish everything off. Well, the clipper kind of works the same way. Usually though in this case, I will use the clippers and then, I will get a t-liner trimmer and finish the neck line and sideburns off. The clippers are just to wide to get into the little crevasses so a little liner trimmer works great their and it compliments the clipper. This is my hair journey though. Now I have many clippers and trimmers I saved up for and got. I really enjoy taking the time to cut my own hair. To not make a mess though I do cut it in the bathroom but I cape it up and stand in the shower and cut it so their is no vacuum needed. Everything falls from the clippers to the cape into the shower. And then, I can rinse everything down. Keeps the mess away. I do use the clippers in the shower but with no water of course. I make sure that the water is off. Oh yes. And I do have both corded clippers and cordless clippers. It is easy with the cordless because the battery is so long lasting and it is easy to work with. But yea. If anyone wants to know what it is like using the clippers it is like using an electric razor and a trimmer. The thing is is that the machine is different and their is no foil or rotary head. And you have a bunch of guards to put on the clipper what ever length you specify that is what the clipper will do.

My mom used one on my dad for years and years. He did the prison count on the inside of the box lid. (four straight lines with a diagonal from corner to corner for a count of 5) He wanted to know how much money he saved!!! Eventually they invested in a new one. Now my mom uses it on her hair and she did my bangs this past month. She cut them a bit short- but hey- they are not hanging in my eyes anymore. Going to go looking for the old one- which might still be around in a box some where.

I've had super posh NYC dominatrixes ($500/hr) compliment my flobbie cut. Yes, about $60 ! My flobbie's plastic cracked from 25 years of machine oil. Flobbies coat $260 now, robocuts are almost as good and cost $80. And you don't blow 1/2 hour at the stylists during prime time.

You can buy additional spacers and replacement blades (for when your cutters get dull) direct from the manufacturer. www.flowbee.com I'm on my second Flowbee. Love it. I have super fine, thin hair and prefer to use the Flowbee to keep it short. Seems like every hairdresser that I have gone to makes faces at my fine limp hair that slithers out of the scissors when they cut it. No one listens to me when I tell them that they HAVE to cut my hair damp. Only three hairdressers have ever cut my hair right (and given me the hair style I wanted). One who told me my hair needed to be cut damp (I was a teen). One who had fine limp slithery hair like mine and said I need to have my hair cut damp. And a third who had a lot of experience and cut my hair damp. With the Flowbee, I cut it dry and then wash it. It seems to work best on slightly dirty hair. I bought my first Flowbee after my husband came home with a haircut that looked more like a Picasso painting. I bought it the same day and had it shipped as fast as possible. That was his last "professional" haircut. When I decided I wanted to cut my long hair, I started using a Flowbee. It's been over 15 years for my haircuts. In that time I have only had my hair cut "professionally" and they butchered it YET AGAIN. Fixed it with the Flowbee. I travel too much to have a regular hairdresser. I will stick with my Flowbee.
