How long should the prawns be left in the tank before removing it?
@TheSimpleAquarist3 жыл бұрын
well place it in a mesh bag and remove it once you detect nitrates. Do a water change and then you can add fishes.

what do you think about the live rock method?
@TheSimpleAquarist3 жыл бұрын
Hi yes, Live rock or Live bio media method is 1 of the fastest method to cycle your tank BUT!! if the liverock or media you took from a clean tank then its ok , if those are taken from a tank that has parasites then we will have some issues dealing with it.

When the Ammonia & Nitrite are shooting to the peak, their ppm usually reach an unsafe level for the fishes. Do do we need water change during the time?
@TheSimpleAquarist4 жыл бұрын
If your doing fish in cycle then you need to keep level below 2ppm or you can use seachem prime to detoxify ammonia and nitrites so that your fish won't be effected that much. If you don't have fish just leave it until cycle is complete.

@@TheSimpleAquarist Thanks for input... If cycle without fishes...where does the Ammonia and Nitrite comes into the picture? What is the maximum peak PPM for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate if without fishes?
@TheSimpleAquarist4 жыл бұрын
If fishless cycle..you need to introduce an ammonia source like fish food /pellets to kick start cycle...if you prefers to control the amount of ammonia initially you can check out my diy nitrogen cycle kick start video. In that video I'll share how to make your own ammonia solution. There is no max but ammonia shouldn't be higher than 8 - 10 ppm and nitrite 5 ppm if not it will delay the cycle duration as these parameters are toxic to the bacteria's as well. It won't stall it but delay it. So normal around 4-8weeks .

Sir, why my nitrite never go down but my ammonia zero and nitrate 30ppm. I cycle with food for 2mths already. Nitrite at 0.25ppm
@TheSimpleAquarist3 жыл бұрын
Well sometimes it takes longer... Just wait another 1 or 2 weeks I'm sure it will be zero soon. 0.25 is nothing to worry abt.
