The second way is this Heel out, leg up, cross over, take a few tiny steps back Hop back a tiny step, repeat on the other leg, few steps forward then repeat. Usually this done in a carousel like circle with both you and your partner facing the same direction. Do those steps then reverse it and do it backwards.

Sorry Partner, you need to come to Texas and learn the real way to dance The Cotton-Eyed Joe...in a circle not a line dance. The line dance started somewhere not Texas in the mid 1990s. I started dancing the Cotton-Eyed Joe in the early 1960s in school and at the Sunday after church bingo nights in the SPJST Hall in Corn Hill, Texas. Listen to the Bob Wills or Asleep At the Wheel versions to get the true feeling. Good luck!

Saiyan Army French Woods sports and arts Center. It’s a summer camp for teens in upstate NY where I’ve worked for the past 4 summers! We dance every lunch time in the dining hall, and this is one of the dances we do!
