I don't think I have ever had as much abuse in my life as running a news portal in Croatia. At first, I was a little shocked and intimidated, but after a while, I came to appreciate my online trolls, and to celebrate them. So much so that I dedicated a whole chapter of my latest book to them. And now, this vlog.
To the Keyboard Warriors of Croatia, I salute you. As true patriots, may I suggest that for every negative comment you post on the trip, you pick up a piece of trash on a Croatian beach. What a clean country we would have then.

I've read somewhere that apparently most of the toxic internet trolls are boomers. The generation born after the 2nd world war, now enjoying long and good life and healthcare and spending their dull days on something they never had when they were young - endless fields of free speech called the internet. With Croatia's aging population, that sums up :) In any case, you did much more for Croatia than the vast majority of Croatians I know. Stay well and keep doing what you are doing

That's funny. I had the exact same words said to me in Vrboska (F*ck off back to London). Two days later a policeman appeared at my door to arrest me for threatening the person with a pistol! At Hvar Police station they fell about laughing when I told them what had actually happened and the fellow had to write me a letter of apology!

In Germany, you will surprised how many people actually hate the foreigners , and germans people actually hide that in some weird wrapped behavior. For example ( they said:"we don't understand you, your german language is bad, find someone who can speak and come back later, or sorry we can do it right now" ,etc.) You also mentioned administration. Well in Germany for example, everting is on the "termin " You need to make a appointment for everything. Even just to ask for something, they don't want to give the answer. You come to office or car repair or anything just for the 1 minute, and there is nobody, no customers at all , they do not care. Just what they doing? They just walk around with cup of coffee, and they literally do nothing. In some are in Germany you can literally feel the hostility towards foreigners. In some private companys, they give a higher salary to a worker who is German,( by nationality, not by citizenship) and a much lower salary if you are not. This is all true and reality. And I also forgot to say about an advertisement for a waiter in the temple bar in Dublin," we are looking for a waiter, the condition: must be Irish", (so not that he can speak Irish, but he must be Irish) What can we say then about discrimination?

Only mistake you can make Paul here in Croatia is to give platform to haters. Mind you - less then 1% of people who live in Croatia are haters and trolls. They only exist to make other people feel bad. We ignore them. Their opinions are not based on logic so it's unworthy of our time. But they used war and communism for their election campaigns. Although they were communists themselves. And let's not fool ourselves any further. Everything starts from the top. Divide and rule. In a small country like Croatia. Manipulation of people is simple and effective.

Paul, Croats are not yelliously when you promote Croatia. In our hard history especially last hundred years before liberated our people gone on western in hope for better or to saved life, in many case with Britain ships to USA Canada, Australia etc. and there they are free people. On free western wings we liberated. When sombody want blocking promotion of Croatia it doesnt mean that he is Croat.In Croatia you got political some left and right wing and we know they serve east we call it udba ex yu secret service, they working constantly to show the world that Croatia is no good. Last western confuse global mix politics gave them place to exist i basic they are prorussian proserbian.Ante is Croatia beautifull name I think like Richard in England what they want then to blame. Name Ante is in brotherhoods with CIA, OO7, and Mossad same familly mean Croatia is western Country., but I think some are not. And ex yu nostalgic cant imagine that Braverly defend calling For Home Ready is same now like For King or Sempre Fie or Slava Ukraine like one.
