I've found that most toxic people will belittle others in an attempt to make themselves feel better. By making others feel bad they feel better about themselves... Poor angry souls.

Toxic people are constantly looking to fight you in a verbal argument. When you react emotionally you give these people power over you. If you argue with them to the point of toxicity a week later you will forget about it and move on. They remember for life and tell everyone who agrees with them every last detail. They’re obsessed over debating it’s like a fetish for them.

As someone who was involved with a narcissist in my early 30s who grew up with very healthy and loving relationships prior to that, I would say that in my personal opinion, spotting a narcissist can require having had some exposure to one before. I was completely stunned, at least, with my first encounter with one because I had never seen anyone express those behaviors so I thought for some time that I was the one who must have been doing something wrong to trigger the cruelty. I think I did grow from the experience and learn how to avoid that type in future but just wanted to share my experience because I think some of us really so get blindsided and even entrapped, for a time, with very unhealthy people just because we maybe were too sheltered and fortunate in our upbringing to realize that people like that even existed.

@@fourtails1192 (to me) is exactly the point! you are in the same situation as the person being toxic in that moment so your actions and their's dictate the situation. your action and responses makes it possible for them to be toxic. that moment and your actions gave them the possibility to be toxic to you. and yes if you are not there its not possible for them to be but that is to simple of an action cause you never know with the next person you meet. therefor your actions in that moment allowed them. therefor you did . that is why i say use the situation not the people in it the situation if you handled it right the other person can't be toxic to you cause you control the situation and therefor the people in it. in order for someone to be toxic to you is because you gave them that chance. people can call me whatever they like its up to me if i let it effect me not the one calling me name. same calls for the backstabbing you decide if you let someone near your backside. every interaction there are always two people involved, this case you and the toxic person. it takes two to tango and there is always one who tango's better so that person leads. be the one that leads. and you only learn to better tango if you tango. by avoiding the dance the next dance will be shitty too

But after finishing highschool, they became extremely toxic. (They both had mental problems but constantly refused to see a doctor!) They were creating gossip constantly and also one of them was passive agressive towards my sister which I was not having. They are still tyring to reach to me occassionally (every 2 months) but I am not in the mood. I am in a happier mood since I kicked them. I've invested 2004~2020, and you'd think "such a pity, you already know each other for so long". But NO. It would be a pity to let them continue being toxic. They've been toxic since 2013 and 2013~2020 was already enough patience and time I was willing to sacrifice for that "friendship". No more. 2020~2022 was a much happier time, without them.

Thank you Bjorn. Important topic. I am the youngest of three sons. My mother was toxic with rare glimpses of love and nurturing. After my mothers death I found out her family life was similar. Children should be seen, not heard. Celebration of birthdays was rare and hearing, I love you, was something on tv and movies. I always wanted to have children, but now, grateful I never did. I would have passed on destructive behaviors. I'm nowhere near as bad as my mother, but I was raised to be tough and firm. Touchie -feelie might as well he a foreign language. Not all, but often I think toxicity is learned. Unlearning takes many, many more repetitions than learning the toxic behaviors in the beginning. I taught adults to swim for fifteen years. Adults who had bad experiences in water took much longer to overcome that fear.

I just blocked a toxic “friend” who, as you said, came across as kind, open minded, etc. She called a few weeks ago and I mentioned my belief in the importance of free speech. I said that I believe that those we disagree with (such as a former US President) still have a right to free speech, as long as they are not inciting criminal behavior, etc. She got really mad and told me that if I continued talking about allowing free speech to someone like that former politician, that she would hang up on me. My response was to tell her in no uncertain terms, that she was welcome to hang up anytime she wanted. We ended the conversation on a positive note, but I blocked her in every possible way. Since I believe strongly in free speech and she was trying to shut me down by not giving me free speech, that was it for her. She’s “outa here”. And I’m happy. My tip of the day: If you block someone and feel a sense of relief, then in my opinion it means that blocking them was the right thing to do.

Maybe you can distance from her step by step. For example moving out and still keep visiting her on the weekends etc. Then you can evaluate if it is the right step to take. Or you move out directly and stop the contact for a while. Just some ideas. Hope you can make it, im in a somewhat similar situation even though i live without my parents.

BPD is one of the most toxic personality disorder. If you have it yourself you have you have a hill to climb where you will never reach the peak. I have a person with BPD in my close family I have no contact and will never have again. Only thing left for me is the decision if I will attend the funeral when the person dies. I have come to the conclusion that I will, because there is something very sad about a person with abilities, competence, and not being "at core" evil or sadistic that can sabotage and wreck so many peoples lives. If the BPD person had been a real evil or sadistic person, the havoc they inflict on other people would be their reward, however for the BPD person it only sabotage and destroy their own life. BPD is for me female psychopathy, but without the malice. So for some reason, maybe because I am a Male, there is at least the idea or the possibility of an idea for redemption. That I do not believe for psychopaths. I will not pray for you, I would just say: Move and cut off contact. If any contact, max 1-2 times per year.

I know what you mean Bjorn when you say toxic ppl can be friendly & charming. I started a new job this week & my co-worker who was friendly, helpful & charming stabbed me in the back by telling my boss what I said to him in private, that the 4th commandment says not to work on Saturday's & my job requires that I work one Saturday one weekend out of the month. I felt betrayed as it was my intention to work Saturday's when called upon, but I think this gentleman wanted to score points with management. Fortunately I found a better job the very next day. After management called me into the office regarding my remarks, when I exited I was nice to my coworker & didn't show him any hostility, I just accepted him as being two-faced and that he can't be trusted. I also realized that it's a good idea to be cautious when intermingling with strangers for the first time no matter how much they smile & seem to be sincere ..Great vid Bjorn!

I think too Bjoern that a lot of people are currently not in a good state of mind. The last 2 years have taken its toll. Last week our people fighting the mandates in New Zealand have been crushed by brute and violent force and even the most peaceful person is struggling with their emotions. I am angry, an angry person who trusts nobody, this is the result of the last 2 years. Everyone feels like they need to lash out, its all so much frustration bottled up.... I am NOT defending the ones that are rude and offensive, 100 percent not, but let's keep in mind that there are a lot of raw nerves out there. Let's focus on the good.. We all need a big dose of goodness, love and care right now. Your videos helped me get through things during the last 2 years of despair. You might never read this Bjoern, but for the record :you kept me going and I enjoyed not just your words but also the beautiful trees around you. There is two schools of thought here. There will always be bullies, you have to learn how to deal with them. We have to learn how to interact with people that make us uncomfortable. Our skin needs to thicken, words cannot hurt you.
@natantataii8195
@natantataii8195 5 күн бұрын
I fully agree. There was no problem for this approach around 15-20 years ago. The problem today, especially with the female culture around, at work places etc.. is that healthy push backs and dealing with bullies might jeopardize your work, livelihood. The contemporary bullies of our time have learned to play weak and victim, which means that they play the crowd/tribe and use them in their efforts. So, again, agree with you 100%, but there are real life risks these days who where no present or minor many years ago. In my former job I had what I consider a surreal/reverse incident, where a female worker claimed I was using domination tactics in an interaction. It was reported to my supervisor. Her claim was only merited on the basis that domination was my intent, the objective analysis of the situation/words etc held not merit to her claim. You could argue that I am an assertive person and being direct, but that's it, I am also very polite and are always professional at work. My personal opinion of that situation is that the young female have some type of personality disorder, because if I believe that she was honest, she must suffer from some kind of paranoia (typical for people with personality disorders). Anyhows, to finish this off: I told my supervisor that the claim held no merit and was false. My supervisor said that it doesn't matter, because this was how she (the young female) was feeling. I told my supervisor that it doesn't matter, then she was in the wrong. I didn't say she was feeling wrong. Just that there is no other truths and that this female was wrong. My Supervisor then fully understood what assertive means. I was assertive because I was right. I was not right because I was assertive. An important difference I hope my supervisor learnt-

Entitled ("I've had enough of this" ) Myself I don't believe I am a toxic person though no doubt I may have had my periods of toxicity in the past. My thoughts about that very personal and revealing video were as follows. I find it interesting particularly the large number of comments. For me it shows that many people are being mentally and spiritually challenged at this time which is in my view all for the good. Personally my view is that running away from issues that we find difficult and that are perhaps telling us something about ourselves and from what we all have had a responsibility in creating is not the answer. We need to look inside ourselves. The answers are often there. All the more reason for all of us to look at our shadows and perhaps work on that side of things We need to look inside ourselves and not be to quick to blame others

Great advice, Sir! Cutting toxic people out is just "maintaining peace and quiet in your house." It's so essential for Empathic people! 💛

Thank you again. This come just in the right moment. Things feel pretty heavy at this moment. Was just thinking adout relationships. People seem to see and valiu each other just as political views and agendas. That is creating a huge separation. What I want is to have a "clean house"🙏

I struggle with being able to identify toxic people. I haven't had a girlfriend in years. Mostly because they always make me feel horrible about myself. I've even distanced myself from all my friends. It's all my fault though. I'm a doormat most of the time. Social distancing and keeping a good distance from people has made me seem less strange to others. Thx covid. Maybe I need to travel the world to see if there's like minded people somewhere else. Thx for ur videos. I really like them.

but people today, Sean, don't know how to communicate in person with people. they are so influenced by evil social media and addicted to their computers.

I understand how hard it can be in the world. I was a military dependent and had to travel wherever the Air Force sent us. In my last year of school, I went to Enid Oklahoma. There were 650 seniors. I had lived in England and in Germany and in Montana and in Texas. But the biggest challenge was going to the 12th grade when everyone knows each other, and you don't know a soul. And also, you don't know anything about the city and the state that you have been assigned by the military

Good day our brother's and sisters. May all of you be blessed. Thank you Bjorn for this little sit down. We are in very trying times. It is nice to have a steadfast person to listen too. Skaal!

Agreed. A good person going no contact with toxic people like psychopaths and narcissists is vastly different to the sort of trolling and cancel culture mentality we see from toxic people who just want to rant and silence everyone who disagrees with them. They will never get better because they can't. It's not that they don't care - they literally can't. Ever.
