This is what reality TV should be. Minimal drama, building relationships, securing bonds and inspiration to live ones life in a more purposeful way all while still entertaining those of us watching. Love it.

You know what was awesome? The distinct lack of fighting. Even when they had minor disagreements, they behaved like adults and worked it out with respect for each other so they could cooperate. Also, Abby was such a fantastic personality. He was so positive, helpful, fun, hardworking, and kind to everyone. Everybody was great in their own way, but to me he really embodied the spirit of the movement, and the ideal of collaboration and mutual support while taking joy in your work.

They have a similar series about a few families running high street businesses and actually having to sell their wares and goods and whoever sells the most each week wins! They go through different decades each week! It’s super fascinating!

I love all the artists passion to their craft, and the way they accepted the challenge to work in a different medium. I must say I found Bryony to be a very peaceful calm personality - I really appreciated these qualities. They were all an interesting bunch. Wonderful program, wish there were more episodes.

I grew up in a Victorian home...my mother filled it with antiques from the same Era (except for the modern things like tvs and appliances) although we did have an original cast iron claw footed tub on our second floor, as well as cast iron radiators and an original cast iron stove in the maids quarters in the basement)

I loved this series and it made me all teared up at the end... Loved the exploration into the Arts and Crafts movement, loved the beautiful things created, loved the house... being a sewing enthusiast and crafter myself, this was very close to my heart. And I love everything British! ahaha! I know being in Sri Lanka, I will never be able to be a part of a project like this, so I just lived in this craft commune, vicariously through them... Thank you for this

What a truly stunning experiment! I want a go as well! Got room for an American jack of all trades? This brought great joy to me. I watched the entire play list. Since I've got experience in each of these projects in some way, it was brilliant to watch the collaborations from each of these truly skilled people. Their insight, Heart, and spirits touched every detail of each item. What a greatest joy. This, this is the reason of life, the meaning of life; to create together the most beautiful of things. "Things" is to also include the emotions and Hearts of each individual , then to work as a whole (the items AND the program). Beautiful, splendidly beautiful. Thank you all who worked on this series for bringing this beauty to the world.

My favorite was the Iranian woodworker, up against all odds, he copied a beautiful chair from a log. Or so they say. Meanwhile the woman did weave the rush seat but that took her all week and had to have help. The wood worker managed his time very well, and thought ahead to make the woman the frame for the seat first thing, so she would have time to do it. This is a great series, but they tried to turn it into a "reality show", and a race among them, but they all had very different projects, varying in complexity did not lend itself to this format. I wish they would flesh out the concept, think it through, and remake this.

I once had arthritis, a Seventhday Adventist lady taught me to be free of it, for life by changing my food habits. Basic to arthritus is an acidic body state. The general mix of food and drink are quite acidic causing inflamation and nerve heat. An alkaline body mass has only normal nerve action and no pain. Hang alkaline, be free of pain. I am 80, I truly have no pain. So no sweets lovey, no sugar. Substitute honey. Makes a lovely tea. I wish I could be with you while you discover acidic and alkaline and while you implement what you are learning. So sorry for yours; but it can be fixed in jig time.

The group really came together after the first episode. I think the women really shined but that's probably partly because I've been a hobby woordworker and builder my entire life so those projects, while nicely done with the period tools, aren't quite as impressive to me and the ceramics never worked out. The weathervane was top shelf but I definitely have a newfound crush on Niamh.

Good Question, What is up with the "potter"? The other 2 men are running around helping everybody else and he offers nothing. Charged to make a mirror, well to him, that meant a jar, "obviously". So he ignored the mirror, and concentrated instead on his specialty. Which you can see in the end were a broken bowl and 2 cups, and all were disasters. He doesn't fit in with the rest, he hasn't the slightest amount of skill in any area, or he completely hid it. He could have asked the others direction and helped them out, but didn't bother. Seemed talentless and lazy.

This was a wonderful program, but by holding up Morris as an example of what an Arts and Crafts leader should be, without touching on the fact that the arsenic that he knowingly used in his wallpaper is somewhat unconscionable. Any program that is shown on the "Absolute History" program needs to be watchful of such errors and seek to include all pertinent facts regarding the historic figures that they portray. Seeing the lovely participants touching the actual Morris wallpaper that included the color green was cringe worthy.

I was expecting a look into what makes a Victorian home a Victorian home. I got was a look into an art movement. Not exactly a description of what makes a Victorian home be of that style. I wanted a history lesson not a show about modern people doing old stuff.
@danyelnicholas2 жыл бұрын
You fit these modern people out with decent attire and in no time at all they look disheveled again. Lack of elegance seems to be ingrained today even amongst artisans. This applies also to the language and general bearing. Hence this program falls short of expectations. Who wore light brown shoes with black suits?
