This might be my favorite video yet. That kitchen at 7:16 and 13:33 might be the best I’ve ever seen. For me, antique pieces just make a kitchen come to life. Old doors, old shutters and pottery and worn-out breadboards are my favorite-especially massive old breadboards. The older the better! My husband says “I think we have enough breadboards now.” 😂. He calls me a breadboard glutton. I can’t help it. 😉😉. I tell him at least I’m not asking for an Aga or a La Cornue. Thanks for another spectacular video, Suzie! 💜💜💜☺️

Hi Suzie, yes it’s in the countryside but also not too remote as I live alone with my four dogs. It’s a traditional Irish stone cottage which used to be thatched in its early days prior 1935. It second roof has lasted a long time but needed a lot of repair so first job I got done was new roof. I now have the time to create the interior and thanks to your inspiration I’m very exited. I’m not in a rush as only been here 4 months. Take care Heather x

This is the closest to my style of all your videos. Also the wabi sabi. I think I am a blend of the two. Not quite Japandee as woods and colors are more French country. Is there a name for this French country/ wabi sabi combo style?

What do you use to polish silver items that are deeply tarnished?

Hello Vickie, sorry for the delayed reply to your question as I have been overseas on a buying trip and wanted to do some research. For silver that is heavily tarnished, mix a paste of three parts baking soda to one part water. Wet the silver and apply the cleaner with a soft, lint-free cloth (not paper towels). Work the paste into the crevices, turning the cloth as it gets gray. Rinse and buff dry. You can also get your silverware re silvered. The 'right' way to restore them is to send them to a plating shop or silversmith to be replated with silver. If you can't find anyone to do it at an acceptable price, and you are handy and artistic, the 'silver plating at home' solutions may be good enough. Anything other than silver plating is not going to look right.Lots of information on line! Hope that helps! Suzie xx

@@suzieandersonhome yes either, as I have bought three French houses over my time and French kitchens do not look like that until someone comes along and puts in what the French call an American Kitchen

@@jacquiliddell7680 That's interesting feedback Jacqui. I have spent a lot of time in France and have been to kitchens in Arles, Uzes, Nimes, Lourmarin, Apt, Normandy, Aix en Provence and Avignon. Some were private homes and some were guest homes and each had divine kitchens filled with character, antiques, copper pots, timeworn furniture and carried the same provinical charm. Each was French owned. People choose to decorate their homes with their own style. We like to share those that resonate with us and feature the looks that uplift and inspire. Perhaps many homes in France don't have kitchens like this but there are many that do, as featured in magazines and books. We chose to highlight those. It's great that you have had the opportunity to buy three French houses. How did you decorate them? Suzie

These pictures don’t look French country to me at all. The pictures of these kitchens are to sterile and don’t show the warm style of French country. The pictures look more modern farmhouse, not the warm depth, and vintage style of French country.

While I love all these looks and elements, a true French Country kitchen looks nothing like this. I've traveled to France many times and spent time in those kitchens and while beautiful, these designs miss the mark.
