You guys are the best! I wrote to you a couple weeks ago about doing something that I think many others who transition from Blackstone to PitBoss may have done. Tried to scrape the surface while still hot, causing my scraper to melt on my cooktop. First off, you replied within 2 days. AMAZING! Secondly, you sent me this link and I just completed the process 19 minutes ago and my cooktop looks brand new! You are true experts in your field! Thank you!

Enjoy the videos. To help people to understand why food is sticking I believe is the temperature they are cooking at on the griddle. When using butter the smoke point is 300-350 degrees and the temperature to cook an egg only needs to be 250-325 degrees. Most newbie to griddling are not taking in consideration of the amount of heat needed to cook. Adjust the heat to the food and the sticking issues on non stick will be better attained.

Thank you for watching and for the input! Agreed. That said, most griddles struggle to get down to those temps, we try to show how to control the temps, specifically by not using all burners all the time. Take care fam!

That cleaned up nicely! Does the surface seem to keep it's non-stick coating after scrubbing during the deep cleans? I know a lot of non-stick pans don't tend to stay non-stick after a lot of deep cleans. OMG, I can't wait to get a Pit Boss griddle. I am hoping to work on the patio expansion this year, but things have been put on hold because of some health issues, but my plan is to have my Blackstone, a Pit Boss griddle and Smoker/grill, and I want to build a pizza oven. I also want to cover part of the patio. I'd love to make a video of the whole process too. Can't wait!! Griddle On!

@waltwins
@waltwins 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and for the question! Pit Boss is a great sponsor but has made it clear they want us to be honest! Our main concern honestly is how this will hold up over time. We have 60+ cooks on it and it’s doing an incredible job! Otherwise, it’s got some issues we’ve had with the Blackstone - “hot spots” and times when the food will seem to just stick! Also, the tempo does drop a bit once food is added, but doesn’t take long to come back up. If we did smashburgers, we need to wait a minute before we do a second round. Hope this helps fam!🤙🤙

With the ceramic you still have to put some oil on it after cleaning? My first couple of smash burgers I didn’t even use oil with no sticking but 5-6 cooks in the burgers were sticking. I’m guessing you are using some oil? I used lard for the buns and everything was sticking after that. Will not use lard again. Did finally clean up with the baking soda. Thank You

Thank you so much for watching Bobby! We are learning a lot with these machines. Recently purchased the 4 burner ultimate lift off griddle and after just a few cooks, food is sticking and staining. The owners manual only recommended wiping down and a 15 minute burn off, which I did. Pitboss was awesome and sent me a new griddle top, but I am scared that it will start sticking again. Can you recommend what I need to do before 1st cook and cleanup after I cook on it and whether or not to use oil to prevent sticking?

Hey guys! Have been watching your channel for quite some time now and love your videos! I am in need of some serious advice! Please help in any way if possible. I let someone use my pit boss ceramic griddle (wife bought for me for my bday in august). After that person used it there is food sticking EVERYWHERE! The little brown bits that are stuck to the griddle top are just not coming off. I’m scared it is messed up! I’m kind of new to all of this too. I have tried baking soda and warm/hot water, also baking soda and lemon juice. Should I let it sit longer? Is there more elbow grease needed. Please help!
@waltwins
@waltwins Жыл бұрын
Hey fam! We get it! Okay - I’ve done the baking soda process several times. Here is what worked best: Apply hot soapy water to the griddle, followed by baking soda to create a paste. Let it sit for 30-40 minutes. Use a scrub sponge and “elbow” grease and scrub it down. Use some water and the silicone scraper to wipe clear. If spots persist, reapply the soapy water/baking soda, and let sit a few minutes. Scrub the stubborn spots. One time I pulled the top inside and did this for about an hour, but got it looking brand new! Try this and let me know if you still have issues!! Feel free to shoot us an email too if it helps with communication! adamandbtettw@gmail.com Or on FB or Instagram messenger! Good luck fam!

@@waltwins Correct. Coming out of winter, or after a few weeks of cooking on a cold rolled steel top that is covered in rust is a real process.

Just to make sure before I do this, you're cleaning this with the griddle completely turned off and cooled down correct?

Yep! Some had done it on low heat, we found it much more effective with the griddle off, using hot water and soap and baking soda. Hope this helps!🤙🤙

Hey there, my husband and his buddy cooked steaks last night that had been marinated, and the marinade left lava like hard bits baked/welded onto my surface. 🙄 I've only tried water and soft sponge like yours, but it hasn't worked. Do you think this may work?
@waltwins
@waltwins Жыл бұрын
It may, but even better - I’d turn the heat to low, and as it gets hot, squirt the surface with water to pull up those hard bits. Not sure how, but it works!😂😂. Then, hot soapy water and a scrubby sponge. Let us know if this works!

Hey guys! So do you prefer the 5 burner ultimate or the Sierra and why? I am looking at purchasing the 5 burner or the 4 burner ultimate and not sure which way I want to go, but I feel like the Sierra is pretty similar to the 4 burner so I wanted to get your opinion! Thanks!
@waltwins
@waltwins 2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow!! What an excellent question!! We absolutely love both, but it’s crazy you ask this - the 5 burner is amazing, and there’s nothing negative to say acing it, but we love the liftoff feature and I just told Brett this morning, and along with the Sierra, I’d really like a 4 burner! 😂😂🔥🔥

@lindseyjackowicz5807 2 жыл бұрын
Awesome! My husband is a taller guy, 6 ft 3, do you find the extra height in the 5 burner to be a pro or is it unnoticeable compared to the Sierra? Have you you found yourself using the lift off feature often?
@waltwins
@waltwins 2 жыл бұрын
@@lindseyjackowicz5807 oh, it is noticeable for sure - if he’s taller, it may be worth it to go with the 5 burner - we used the Blackstone air fryer combo for 2 years and noticed the difference in the Sierra - but for us at 5 9” - it wasn’t too bad..😂. Is there a place that carries both that you can check (Camping World maybe?!)

@@lucaswolfert8074 that’s crazy, sorry fam! The good thing is that the food isn’t sticking. Have you called Pit Boss customer service? They have been great with advice! I will say, one of the times I was working on a dark spot, I did the baking soda method, but it didn’t get the whole “stain” off, so I got more hot soapy water and a bit of baking soda, and scrubbed small sections at a time. It took a lot more effort and I got a work out, but it eventually all came out.

My biggest concern with using baking soda is it's abrasive qualities...are y'all worried about the baking soda eroding the ceramic coating? Honestly, I'm genuinely curious about this On a slightly different note, I deep clean my ceramic coated cast iron dutch oven with a very diluted water/bleach solution..fill it to the brim and let it soak overnight and the stains disappear...I'm willing to bet it would work on the ceramic griddle too! Maybe spray and let it sit for an hour then wipe clean?? I'd love to hear y'all opinion on this
