You must have very good reflexes to be able to defend hooks like this. If you mistime it just a little, the hook will land and you're going down. If I saw someone defending like this I would do faints and follow up with a strong punch to catch him while he's wide open.

Not all techniques are for all situations. The cover is the best and most high percentage technique for defending a hook. However, a cover doesn't work well if the hook has a blade/screwdriver in the fist. Furthermore, the 3rd option of the bicep check only works if you have the ability to see the attack coming (as all defenses do). The 3rd option can also be done from more a clinch-range fight while monitoring biceps.

Drillers make killers (or defenders)! This video has some good ideas in it, but since recording this one I've definitely made some modifications. But all 3 of these still work! What we drill in class now is a little more refined. Thanks for watching Jason!

It would depend on several factors, but the highest percentage of success would be to Cover your head and Crash. From there you either Control or Counter-Attack. Remember it as the 3 C's of punch defense: Cover, Crash, Control/Counter-Attack.
