Patti you are an excellent teacher! This is an amazing tutorial! Companies are only interested in making money...so they will never offer this information. They prefer us to buy new hair constantly. This will save a fortune. In today's day and age, we ALL need to save money, and all women should be able to be glamorous as they see fit. You are a total sweetheart, thank you!

A couple of years ago, I purchased a electric heating and curling brush/comb from my wig store and it works perfectly to smooth all synthetic wigs and has given my wigs a very long life span. I have even used it now and then to smooth out my own hair. They are not expensive at all and a must to own if you own wigs.

Patti, your videos would have to be the best I have ever seen. You understand that most of us are not Hairdressers/Stylists so you know how to explain everything clearly, how to do it and why. You really hit on the many frustrations that can occur when owning a wig and help us to solve them. I am a very happy viewer from "Down Under" (Australia) and will have you as my "go to" for any hiccups I have with my Wig(s). A big fan from now on. Great work!!

Hi, Patti. I’ve watched this tutorial several times and finally tried steaming an old wig that I was going to throw out, and it worked. I don’t know what the wig is, but the label says “Envy”. I think I got it from eBay and it seems very nice - monofilament top, hair is soft and full, and looks and feels like real hair. After steaming, I used cheapie foam rollers and curled the hair. I left it to cool overnight and took the curlers out. It looked great! Then I tried it on.....uh oh....didn’t look good on me. So now I have to practice my hair cutting skills.... what the heck...I was going to throw it away anyway! Thank you for this great video!

Hi Patty! I love this tutorial and just wanted to thank you because this is life changing information for women that wear hair every single day.Buying a new wig every other month or looking hideous in an old one can really be depressing. I had to watch this one a few times just because I get distracted and forget to pay attention but today it finally clicked and I had success. "Elle" is beautiful again. I have a quick question for you, and I apologize if you said this already but I am not sure what to do if there are little kinky curly strands that do not seem to want to behave? I have to say my favorite part is when you say "maybe she stuck her head in the oven, I don't know?" I laugh everytime. Thank you for all you do.

If that's the case you will need to steam it over and over again till its completely gone. You will not damage the wig if you use the steamer.

Patti, your videos are AWESOME! You are such an extraordinary teacher!! Speaking of iron, can I use a "steam" iron to get the kinks & frizz out? Being a cheapscape, I'd rather not buy a steamer, if I don't have to.
@Wigsbypattispearls7 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately this won't work as well. You really need a steamer so that you have that strong constant steam coming out. It would take you forever with an iron and you still wouldn't get the same results. Also be careful and don't let the iron touch the hair as it will melt it.

Hi Patti! This video is awesome! I have a wig Karlie (Jon Renau) & didn't realize when I bought it that it flipped out at the ends. I haven't worn it because I just don't like out flips at age 64. I was thinking maybe I could use the steamer to get rid of the flips, and then re-curl for an inward flip. Bad idea or not? By the way, I think it's so cool that you actually share your techniques. Thanks, Patti.

Ms Patti, thanks you so much for all your valuable tips. What I want to know is can a curling iron be used on a synthetic wig which is not heat resistant?
@Wigsbypattispearls7 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't use a curling iron on non HD hair. It can cause it to scorch and melt very quickly. To add curl you can put in some velvet lined rollers (non heated) then apply steam from a hand held steamer and let set overnight. Take down the rollers the next morning.

Hi Patti: So I have the Opulence and High Society by Gabor. I Love them both. Only thing is the bangs keep flying into my face. Can I use the steamer on them to get the bangs to stay back. Just worry to do it with the lace front and don't want to wreak these beautiful wigs. Thanks
@Wigsbypattispearls6 жыл бұрын
Hi Connie, Steaming it won't really help the bangs to stay back. Try tucking them behind your ear or pinning them back. After doing this for a while the wig will become "trained".
