It's unfathomable that Google doesn't have a 'purge all' option in Google Photos. It's completely unacceptable that in order for you to delete your photos you need to manually go through all your photos and select each one.

I'm done with Google Photos. I removed the app from my phone and I'm currently archiving my account and moving away from Google. This was the last straw. I've been trying to find a way to delete all my Google photos for several years and there is no way to do it. Possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen in any software. After too many confusing issues with the sync from my phone to Google, and Photos deleting pictures from my phone AFTER I moved them to a non-synced folder and deleted the pictures on my desktop, in addition to many other issues, only to find out I can't even delete all my pictures at once without scrolling through tens of thousands of pictures manually. The BEST option is to select the first picture on desktop and scroll down and do a shift-select on another picture to select all pictures in between and delete. That doesn't work if you scroll too many times, it will deselect the first picture. So your only option is to use the shift-select routine hundreds of times. Absolutely ridiculous.

After following these steps the photos I supposedly "deleted" are still showing up in the assistant section of Google photos. Annoyingly recommended that I save the photos back to my library with the recommended modifications. Beyond making it extremely tedious to delete your photos, the evidence suggests that Google doesn't really erase your photos. This is unsettling.

Thanks for the video man. I had so much trouble getting my Google Photos library deleted because I had over 10,000 photos and I had to scroll down holding shift all the way to the bottom. It took a while but finally managed to get it deleted. Thanks once again. R.I.P Scroll Wheel.

The worst part is that you can't even receive any emails when your Google Drive storage is full. I'm tired of their money making scheme. I just switched from Google Drive 's 2TB @$99.99 plan to OneDrive 1TB x 5 accounts @$99.99. Plus, OneDrive comes with Microsoft Office Suites (365).

works better to select a lot of photos at once on desktop if you...Click the check box icon thingy at the top left of the photo, then scroll down as far as you want hold shift then click on the checkmark thingy at the top left of that last photo on the right side of the screen.

So I had the same issue with the photos being removed from my iPhone ( iCloud ) because I gave google permission to sync with my iPhone photos, both apps on my iPhone were able to communicate with each other. Simple fix was just to sever that by deleting my google photos app from my iphone and deleting the photos from google photos on my desktop (pc/Mac) without affecting my iCloud photos. Guys i found a new way: Go to the settings>manage storage> there you can delete photos>select the photos you want do delete and a "select all" button will pop up at the upper right corner then you can move it to trash then delete it there. Hope this helps hehe

I've never liked photo managers they take over, this is what I'm talking about. This is the holly grail of chaos. I was only using it to store images of items in the shed with QR code labels pasted on crates to the images online, I've barely begun the project and now I don't know what's synced where. The objective was to make life easier but I will need to recover from the stress of cleaning up after this app before there is any hope of that 😒

To those struggling idk if those photos are on you laptop but if they are, connect it to your google photos on phone and delete them there. And if you want to delete it from a specific acc but save them, switch accounts and let the other acc save them(back up) and delete them

I was thinking of just deleting all the backup from google photo's, which would mean there would be 1 location (my phone), Delete off my phone, and THEN sych which would back up the new updated photo's. HOWEVER it quickly occurred to me that I would lose all those that were part of the "free my device" since they would be on google photo's and not actually sourced ON my phone.. Good thing I didn't do that! Seems that Google photo's has made this an ABSOLUTELY NIGHTMARE rather than making it better..

You can only delete photos using the mouse and by holding down Shift button. In 30 minutes, I was able to delete 1 terabyte of photos, 20,000 at a time. Google's service is terrible. The fewer photos remain, the slower it works. I had to delete the last 100 photos one by one because the website displayed an error saying, "Cannot delete the photo." Perhaps someone other than me is viewing it at that moment. Maybe the CIA or the FBI?
