How to Delete an Unwanted Blank Page in Word

Am I the only one here going absolutely insane not only trying to figure out how to delete a page, but also at the fact that Microsoft managed to once again make something so simple so difficult! Deleting a page should NOT require someone to go online to find a solution let alone watching a three minute tutorial. ... my goodness. I thank you for your tutorial though even though it did not help me, whereas it is faster just to delete the elements one by one off of the pages unfortunately... Not your fault by any means, so thank you. I just don't get it, other programs like adobe acrobat, and other word processing editors allow you to view all the pages in thumbnails and just click a simple delete button to delete or add button to add a page.... I can't even figure out how to get that pane showing the pages. They must be locking up programers in cubicles underground who have no connection to the internet or modern day programming, because this feature is not intuitive one bit.

To see the navigation panel go to 'View' and then put a check mark on 'Navigation Pane'. However you can't delete pages from there! Just use Ctrl + backspace to delete a page!

ok at the bottom left Look at "page 3 of 3". double click that. navigation pane with page icons and page numbers underneath will pop up and move your MS document will move - a little to the right. click the page you want to delete and press "control + delete (backspace)". It should do. If not, then go to HOME, press the paragraph icon (Reverse capitol "P" and a line in front.) it should tell you the Hidden items on that page. I found a center tab on the blank page. I clicked at my page to the bottom right and pressed the delete/backspace button. that did it. hope this helps!!!

Works 100%. The Paragraph mark, select it and reduce font to 1, and my blank page disappeared. Amazing.

Under navigation select the page that you want to delete and give Ctrl+Backspace that should delete a page.Hope this helps.

A great video - but unfortunately none of those options deleted the blank page I have at the end of my document. I have two columns spread of multiple pages in my document and Word includes the annoying blank page at the end. Any other ideas to resolve this issue?

Had this problem (still do), but I discovered why. I have page 1 as two-columned. The "end two column" marker is now at the top of page 2 and, if I find a way to delete it (Tenzy Jangchup's suggestion below did that) then I lose my two columns. I need to find a way to have just a little more space at the bottom of the previous page for that marker to fit in. Video above helpful tho' - obviously the last part about showing the markers.

I've tried all the steps shown but the page will still not delete. The document was converted from a PDF with figures and attachments that has since been deleted. I want to delete the last page which is a different size. It is set as a custom size (11" x 17") and when I try to change it to "Letter", the pop up window tells me "Increasing the left margin causes first column to become too narrow in some sections having uneven spaced columns". I have tried to change the columns for the page and change the margins but nothing works. Please help.

Thank you BetterCloud for making this video. I was about to turn in an assignment online when all of a sudden i noticed there was two blank pages in my essay. One of which happened to be in the middle of the essay and knowing that there was no 'delete page' button, I was living a nightmare. This happened to be the first video I stumbled upon and it saved my life!!! Hi, could someone please advise on how to remove a blank page at the end of a Word doc? I followed the above steps, but none of it worked. I have a screenshot image at the end of the doc (page number 32), but a new page follows, (page number 1), and it's blank. None of these options have worked. I do have a header on each page, but it somehow creates a third page and nothing in on it. The 2nd page is only half full so I do not see anything on it and it does not have a page break. Any suggestions?

Here is a suggestion that might work as it just worked for me. I couldn't get anything to work other than using the Navigation page, selecting page and then using Cntrl + space. However, I also just thought of this and it worked: I converted Word to PDF and then deleted the final page from the PDF document. That might be sufficient for most people anyway if wanting to send or use the document. But, if wanting the document in word, I was then able to convert the PDF document (minus the last page which I deleted from the PDF document) and convert it back to Word. This was done using Acrobat Acrobat Pro 2017. It may not be possible to convert PDF to Word if using the free reader but the Pro version does allow this. The formatting remained good once converted back to Word.

My blank page is a Word Table. After none of these worked an old memory hit me! Delete the bottom line of the table on the page above and the blank page below goes away. The table was too long (too close to the bottom of the first page).

If anyone is still having trouble deleting their blank pages after trying the things in the video, go to your blank page, check to make sure there isn't an "invisible heading." Click on the home tab and make sure your heading is on "normal." If it's anything other than normal you won't be able to delete the blank page until you click on normal heading. Once you have verified the heading is normal any of the tips in the video should work. Hope this helps.

I don't know about the rest of you but I had a one page document with a second blank page. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the blank page until I just by chance, while in the layout view and in the area of the blank page, I put my cursor on the margin bar to the left of the blank page, grab it and dragged the margin up to my first page until the blank page disappeared. Simple as that. Problem solved.

Thanks but nothing here worked. Page 1 is portrait oriented. Page 2 is landscape oriented. Showing hidden characters reveals only a 'character return' on page 2. Both the delete and backspace functions cause page 1 to become landscape format. I am sure I have solved this before..... but I cannot recall how right now.

O.K.... Setting the whole document to have the same format as page one - same margins and orientation - allows me to delete page two. This is only any good if I can sacrifice everything in thew document except page one, of course.
