@@jev2867 I don't know the original top speed because they derestricted it at the dealership for me. I'm a lightweight Rider 145 lb. The speedometer will go all the way to 50 but my GPS has 45 miles an hour. Keep in mind it's not broken yet. And get a 2021 there now on 12 inch wheels instead of 10 you don't need to purchase the sport model to get 12 inch wheels.

I've seen it done with a cordless drill, but we definitely use the air tools for the extra punch. Having the nut come off and strip the threads on the crank would not be a fun problem to solve...

second change the carb put bigger carb on 3rd take out alot of the packing in the pipe,4th drimel the oulet and inlet ports by 2 to 5 mill ,and polish , wet and dry paper on a drill and skim the top head off 2 to 4 mill and fit a copper gasket rejet it ,and get 18 to 24miles an hour more speed maybe more cost will be $40

Hey there. Have you pulled off the clutch to look at it? Replacting the clutch utimately would fix the issue, but if you are looking for a lower cost (possible) solution, you could pull the clutch bell off and rub some sandpaper along the inside of it to scuff it up some and give it more grip. It's always hard for me to say since I don't have the unit in front of me.

do you have any videos of how to get to the carburetor to clean it and same goes to the gas tank. i don't ride my roughhouse much and it never fails it will sit a few months and i go out to ride it... it cranks but not start and it cost me 200 bucks to take it to the scooter shop to get running.

I don't, but we have a video on storage prep. Have you seen it? If you arent going to use the scooter for a bit, prep it for storage that way you don't have to pay to have everything cleaned out :)

There is also an exhaust restriction via the muffler gasket.

We don't have any issue when using the air gun, but you can just hold the variator still if having trouble. It usually just zips right off.

It's 2-stroke? Yea, maybe. I'm not sure of the restrictions on that unit, but a lot of the 2 stroke scooters are restricted. A 2-stroke scooter will usually get 45+ without a restriction.

I wouldn't do this without the proper tools. You risk tearing it up and being in a lot of trouble. You don't want to screw up the crank shaft of the motor.

How does that plastic piece function? Does it cause some some type of slippage to decrease speed?

It keeps the variator from opening up to its full potential. Once it is removed, it can open up all the way. Thanks!

Hi Guys, I did this derestriction to a 2002 Yamaha Vino (also had to grind the exhaust restriction out of the pipe) - I just bought a new Scootstar- Honeystar 50cc and was wondering if that 4-stroke scoot had the same 'governor' washer in it's variator or if it was electronically restricted with a CDI - I don't want to void my warranty, but this virus crap is making it hard for me to get back to my dealer - PEACE!

If your scooter has the restriction, yes. Many do not though. 5 - 10mph I would say is average speed increase.

Hey man. I’ve never heard of that scooter before. Is it a Chinese 4-stroke? Most common restrictions are the ones shown in this video and often you can find a CDI restriction. This usually involves simply switching the part with an aftermarket one. Unfortunately, I have no idea whether or not that scooter has restrictions. Best wishes.

Tried taking it off by hand with a socket and wrench holding the variator fins to stop it from spinning, fins crumbled under the pressure, use the air gun people!

Yamaha razz 50cc is restricted by a single gear and not a traditional CVT They are not friendly to mod. They have a Minarelli engine that is de-tune to a lower compression ratio. They are basically a cheaper Zuma. I liked mine, I bought it for my girl. I don't know how we did it but we would 2-up with with 300+ combined weight and still hit top speed at 30ish mph lol. They only weigh 115lbs, peppy but do not get your hopes up to mod, you would have to redesign the entire transmission.

Most don't care. A dealerships responsibility is to make sure you are aware of the rules/laws, but at the end of the day, they can't force you to follow them. (With that said, we'd highly encourage you to go ahead and get that motorcycle license).

Any slack will go away when the clutch and the variator "grab" the belt once put back together (as long as everything is put back together correctly of course).

It keeps the variator in the transmission from opening up all of the way when the belt engages it, thus restricting the speed. When it’s removed, it can expand all the way out 🙌🏼💯🛵

I'm not familiar with that scooter, but a lot of the Chinese Tao Tao scooters are 3.50 x 10. You should be able to see the tire size on your current tires if you need to replace. Thanks!

It usually boosts it a solid 10 - 15 mph. This unit would typically do about 35 mph and with the restriction removed, it gets 45 - 50mph. Hope that helps!

I'm 160... My scooter is fully broken in. I've hit 60 mph on flat, non windy day. Ive never modded or checked to see if mine was de restricted. Has to be if I I'm able to hit those speeds. I also used GPS mph because I didn't wanna believe it. I got say my speedometer is accurate.

@@NewScooters4Less no it does not. The scooter goes about 25 mph . Derestricted it goes 35 on a perfect summer day with no head wind. The scooter will say it's going 50 but that is inaccurate. Use a app like WAZE and you will see the correct speed . Which will be 35 if you're lucky. To reach 40mph you got to be going down hill. No way you gonna reach 40 on a straight road.

@@monkchief5696 No way. You have a Roughhouse? Some older models have a restriction between the exhaust and the head of the motor. You may need to remove that one as well. This scooter most definitely can get 45 - 50 mph completely derestricted.

Don't think so. Those are Chinese 4-Strokes. They shouldn't have a restriction in the transmission (With that said, I have never taken one apart before).

I wouldn't recommend anything else. You may be able to use a battery-powered impact, but you want to make sure it's strong enough to torque down. Last thing you want to do is strip the threads on the crank. Locking Torque 3.2~4.0 kg-m.
