I don't keep myself updated with all the LEAD videos, but when I do actually sit down with any one of your videos, I always find so many great tips and tricks. Thank you so much!

Hello, always fascinating and instructive to follow your videos on surface processes. It's important to take the time to think about which direction to take to prepare for possible future modifications. This video perfectly illustrates the issues between freeform and surface-mounted. Thank you very much.

Hi Matt, just wanted to say these videos have been absolutely brilliant! I'm curious if you've done a video based on underfloor aerodynamics? For example the Porsche 911 GT3 uses small fins underneath the flat bottom to direct airflow, i'd love if you designed/showed us how to do something like this

GT3rs is one of my favorite cars! but sadly i don't have one :) I haven't done any Aero type videos because Fusion doesn't have CFD tools. I could try to use something like OpenFOAM but most other CFD tools are pretty expensive and likely wouldn't fit with most of the viewers on Hobby license of Fusion. I'll certainly add it to my list. Do you do any CFD now?

I just stumbled across this video and already sub'd. I really enjoy 3D modeling and have a great understanding of surface modeling, something I suck at lol. I hope to get better with surfaces with your channel! Thanks man!

Thank you! I cover a lot of freeform modeling on this channel, but do have a surface only series with i think 16 or so parts in it. be sure to ask questions along the way! Thanks for the sub!

Hi Matt! 1st of all thank you for following up on my request!! Wow thats a lot to take on the surface tools, but i will definitely try both methods, probably the freeform 1st! I intend to 3d print these but I still have not decided if I skin them with carbon fiber OR build a mould and do a layup from there. Take care 👋

You are welcome! And yeah at the end of doing it with sufaces and making the edit to the size/shape I figured doing it with forms would be quick :) If you haven't seen it I would suggest checking out kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGaznqSDZ5l7e80 You might consider making a compression mold for CF and that would be a pretty strong part.

What a great video thanks a lot! i find freeform can be overwhelming in the beginning so it is nice to see you use 2 different methods!

Glad you enjoyed it! Freeform can be great but can get out of hand very quickly. Certainly worth the effort at a basic level for concepts.

Good morning, I've been watching your videos for a while now and I'm learning a lot thanks to you, I have a broken head about how to make a body kit that contains moldings, I can't find the way to shape that little groove... Greetings from Spain Thank you for helping me with your videos! ❣
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Жыл бұрын
Morning! How to make those molding details really depends on what geometry you are working with. The first two ways that come to mind are: 1. Sweep solid/surface. Create the profile you want and then sweep it along a path. 2. Ruled surface. This lets you create a surface at an angle to your shape or toward a plane. I probably wouldn't suggest doing small detail like that on a form model and would push it to surface tools for sure.

I get stuck on the part from form to surface. My form doesn't convert to a surface this makes me unable to trim it any ideas what it could be? I'm on the personal use version
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign

Does it give you an error? If there are overlapping edges/faces that will prevent it from converting to a surface. Box display usually helps find this stuff.

Hello Matt is it possible to send you a scan file of a Ducati 999 fuel tank, because i would like to make it a solid so i can build a seat pan wich is following the line of the tank. Maybe it could be a nice project for you, to show how to master very complicated forms, running in all directions. Would be happy to hear from you. Greetings from Hamburg Germany Renato

The trim at 10 minutes, it seems no matter how closely i follow your tutorial, Fusion throws an error saying "there are no visible surfaces to trim" when I select the canard face. any tips or items that may be going wrong?
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Ай бұрын
Hmm, the trim tool can be a bit picky. As long as your sketch overlaps the surface it should work. You can try doing an extruded surface of the sketch and making sure they overlap. It will go in the normal direction from the sketch plane. Also based on your avatar image you might like this file a360.co/3Njc1yO I drew that years ago. probably 2011 in Solidworks

@@LearnEverythingAboutDesign I posted the same question on Reddit. They suggested applying it to an extrusion as well. I’ll have to try it when I get home from work.
