Well, it seems like it's a talk about designing for next month/year, so yeah "what's next"... Also design is not about researching consumer (or other) insights , there is research team that produces reports, so designers can focus on design - the thing they know. Manipulating brief - also not a good idea, just let your client know they need a research/strategic agency to make the brief better. If this was supposed to be a talk about creating innovative strategy and executing it why say it's about design? The presented approach is great, but it's so well know it's thought on universities, there's nothing about the "next" part.
