Great, but you used a rounded rectangle. How to achieve the proper squircle shape?

Thanks! Was looking for this! I wonder if they actually rendered it with some 3D software, hopefully somebody makes a tutorial for that one day, but until then I’ll enjoy yours!

Glad I could help and that you enjoyed the video Owen! I wonder that too. Seeing some of the amazing looking Big Sur icons people were sharing, I thought for sure they had to be done in 3D software. So I was surprised to find out that some of the really advanced looking ones I saw were actually created in Figma/Sketch, and that's what inspired me to figure out if I would be able to do it myself. There's definitely a limit to what we can do with vector tools though, so I do want to learn 3D software in the future (I'm actually still learning how to draw on paper since perspective and lighting and stuff is probably important to understand first haha). When I do, I'll be sure to make a video :) Thanks so much for watching!

I dont think they rendered it in 3D, they would be complicating the job if they did. I never knew it was THAT easy however to create 3D effects in figma or sketch.

Thank you for the explanation. I have a question. If I have the icons ready and designed, how do I convert them to the Android ICON application?
@wanomir31333 жыл бұрын
I tried to make the same in Ai, but this way its much easier. Thanks!

Hmmm. I wonder if it would be faster to do a 3D render in Blender Cycles and what the results would look like. Might take even less work.

Can I make big sur style in Affinity designer, and what format when save it?
@user-ku7mm8bg3j3 жыл бұрын
well yeah, its best to save them as .ico or .icns. maybe .png to preview it.
