As an amateur graphologist, what you said makes a lot of sense! One's signature is reflective of how we want the world to see us - it is our persona on paper and it tells a lot about who we are. When someone asks you to design their signature, they might not realise it, but they are really asking you to design (and define) their individuality - which, of course, is impossible. The beauty of signatures is their uniqueness - just like (hopefully) the person they belong to!

Two things for those struggling with this: 1. Buy some pens or even markers and practice - especially your capitals using different slants and sizes to see which suits you best and; 2. Use calligraphy books (or online tools) to see which styles of lettering appeal to you most. Use them to begin practicing your new signature style. Instead of random doodles, tinker with your signature - you’ll enjoy the process and have a great signature that’s all you!

when I wrote my signature to get a driver's license, the guy at the desk laughed a good bit at how ugly it was, it's kind of scribbly because I never learned cursive in school (they gave me a practice page we were suppose to color in before we did the packets, and I just kept coloring it over and over again because I didn't want to do cursive (I was like 8) and now my signature is kind of like a really small scrunched up scribble that vaguely resembles my name.

I have horrible and sloppy handwriting due to my access of school options growing up and no one taught me how to write in signature yet everywhere I go requires me to do so. Thank you so much, I have the worst signature known to man and I couldn't care less until I was insulted about it in public. To give you context, I came up with the signature because I couldn't be bothered back then as a teenager and didn't really understand the importance of one until I was insulted. Thank you. 😉 I was so unsure of what I should do years & years ago when I first designed my own signature but it just takes practice and messing around with ideas and then you finally end up with what is your signature. 😃 When I even write my name in cursive now I have just recently adjusted the way I write the N & A in my name and it looks so much more nicer and cool.
