I started studying psychology wanting to work in a penitenciary center for, more or less, the same mentality this documentary "has"/"gives". There have been arguments about nature vs nurture decade after decade in the field, and it just amazes my how the mind works and what makes it work in a particular way in a particular individual.

I often wonder what about children who parents give them up, divorce and struggle just to put food on the table. How does a young girl whose mother gave her up at age 2 turn out to be a really great mother? How does a child who watched their parents struggle with alcohol take a totally different path and be highly interested in nutrition.

I would say that comes from our capacity to build up resilience. The capacity to, despite everything, still be able to shift the mindset to turn adversity into good results (I'm not a professional lol).

Both but childhood experiences play a huge role you could have somebody that’s prone to anxiety, but if raised in the right environment will not have problems with anxiety

It’s everything to do with love…comfort from parents, security, boundaries, balance, if a child feels truly loved & cared for and comforted they’ll reach their potential, if the parents have drink or drug problems the children will struggle.

I wish I would've known that earlier... As of now, I'm pretty much a loser losing in life. I hope, this study will help children and humans to come.
