well it depends how it is written. If you have -x^3 that means -(x*x*x*x) but if you substitute -x in for x on the expression x^3 you now have (-x)^3 which means (-x*-x*-x) which is still negative and therefore is equal to -x^3. I hope that explains what you were looking for

@CookingWithChabely11 жыл бұрын
so when you said anything raised to the even power is even (meaning X would be even not odd right?) cause on my HW i substituted and its (-x)to the third power .. does that mean its going to be -x to the third power..? Or x to the third power? get it..?

ive never wanted to off myself more than when doing domain and range and this portion of alg2/precal
@brianmclogan2 жыл бұрын
What is so hard about the content for you?
@hayden19232 жыл бұрын
@@brianmclogan A good portion of it. I'll list out the main things that I find difficult (it might be a bit): Knowing when and when not to use brackets and/or parenthesis when determining domain and range,, Knowing and determining what a graph will look like based on an equation,, Finding the domain and range (I'm somewhat alright at this, I just struggle every so often).
@hayden19232 жыл бұрын
Update: Took a test with the help of friends (teacher said friends helping was alright) and I did little to none of the work due to my inability to understand how to find domain and range. So I'm going back on me saying I'm alright at domain and range: I don't know how to find either. Also, didn't get 2-3 of the questions done. I genuinely feel so incompetent while doing math related to alg2 and precal.

why was the 2nd power brought back to the x even after it was multiplied to itself to make it positive? Makes 0 sense
@rjcomeaux54614 жыл бұрын
I think because -x * -x = x * x he wasn't solving, but finding equal ways of writing it. So 5 times 5 = 25 [ or 5^2 ] also -5 times -5 = 25 [ or (-5)^2 ] So 5^2 = (-5)^2 If I'm wrong, someone correct me
