This is really good video a small question though, The load is Tension in Nature in this example, is there any changes if the loads are Shear OR perpendicular to your utilized mechanism .

Determine the appropriate welding speed to be used to weld 8 mm C50 steel plates when the power source is at 30 V and current at 325 A. The arc efficiency is 0.80 while the maximum cooling rate allowed is 6°C/s at a temperature of 550°C. Possible welding speeds are 6, 7, 8 and 9 mm/s. Can u solve this with proper steps I need this by today

Hi, thank you for uploading such useful information, does anybody know how to determine the correlation factor (ßw) for a different type of steel? is there a table? is it in the material specification eg (specification ASTM A572)

The table is in EN 1993-1-8

Hi great vid, but can you please clarify a couple of thing for me, 1. how do you find the ultimate tensile (fu) strength is it specified in a specific standard. 2. Im not sure where the figures 0.54 and 0.38 come from, are these calculated from knowing what fu is. Sorry if my questions seem very obvious i have dyscalculia which is the equivalent of dyslexia but with maths which means it can take me a little longer to understand.

Yes ultimate tensile strength is constant for particular grade of steel.

@@robinllabres5969 Yea but my boss taught me little differently to calculate weld length required. It is like (Pulling force)/(0.707 x 110 x weld thickness x Number of sides welding is done)

Hi, did anyone tried the calculation i found 0.61 instead of 0.54 for design shear coefficient after simplifying.

0.54 is correct it is f**** tricky. I also got 0.61 but 0.54 is right do the inputs correctly in calculator
