Stumbled upon this video yesterday and became the 570th subscriber. Truly appreciate your endeavor to teach Mandarin by aspiring to understand and address the difficulties of an English speaker (myself non native) attempting to become proficient in Mandarin. Extremely inspiring/exciting. 🤩💖💙 Thanks so much and I truly hope that this sincere comment and subscription helps to boost your channel at a relatively rapid pace. Insha Allah. 🥰

谢谢老师,我在2018年学中文的时候用了你教的办法。我就是记住了生词。我口音没有标准的音调但是我说的话大部分中国人能听懂。

❤For me the most challenging things in learning Chinese are: 1. Phrase pausing or word conjugation - which is I often hear how words or phrases that need to be separated by any pause between them get conjugated as one long word. For example, in a phrase like "Me and you will go..." they connect "you" to "will" in stead of having a tiny pause between them, so what I hear is "Me and youwill go" [我 和 你会 去] It's just a simple example that could recollect on the spot while typing this post. Actually, there are tons of examples. 2. Mispronouncing or reducing of consonants. An example here: "一点儿" which has a clear "N" sound in a standalone 点 but, when pronounced together in the above phrase, all I hear is [yi dia'er] with no "N" at all. One has to get used to it. Or, for reducing, as here at 8:16 I don't hear the "L" sound in "xi lian", I can hear something like "xi Dian".🤷‍♂️

Thank you for a quite different type of lesson. And also for keeping the music level way down. I’m not young and have been learning for about three years. It’s much harder to get new stuff to stick in my brain than when I learned languages when young. I agree that building the vocab is very important. I recently visited China and as I expected the range of accents and dialects is very wide a bit like when I watch reverse from England and Scotland. Hearing and understanding is by far the hardest part when learning any language and I really struggled in China but I found most Chinese could understand my basic Chinese when I reminded them I am a foreigner who can’t speak like they do. I’ve subscribed and look forward to looking at your other videos.

Very good and insightful. Thank you. But I have one comment. When I hear people say that Chinese has minimal grammar and that its grammar is simple, I agree, as long as we're not talking about the past. When talking about the past, I find it almost impossible to know when to use 了 (le), or 过 (guò), or 了 and 过 together, or 是…的 (shì…de) or 没有 (méiyǒu), and where they go in the sentence order.

I really love your attitude and approach to learning Mandarin. You're channel will grow. I have subscribed with "bell".🙂 Here's what I love: 1) ALL Mandarin (no English - I already know English lol :) 2) Music is beautiful and WAY in the background (where it SHOULD be) 3) You have a clear, pleasing voice and appearance which is pleasant to listen to to watch. 4) You have excellent content which is practical and useful. Finally, 5) You do not have on the glasses that you kept having to "push up" on the 80 Sentences video LOL 🤗 Great job! 加油! 😊

The method of listening, repeating what is said and trying to hear only a few words and trying to make sense of the overall meaning.

@@JasonOwensYT A lot of listening and understanding what you hear. Also you can repeat that. You may congrats yourself if you start thinking in language you learn. The only thing you need is to forget your mother language when you speak or trying to speak another language

中文的主要難点為我是听慬中文。我听慬了百分之九十的你説的因為有字幕了。中文的語法不太難。除了你的視頻以外我看很多很好的、不複雑的、中文視頻了。和你的視頻一様只説中文的視頻最好。
