The loan farm is very important to developing wonderkids In what I like to call the Chelsea method From 18-23 (unless they become good enough to start) They are loaned out every season If at 23 they aren't good enough to start sell them for profit. This works really well if you have 30 players out on loan a season every season 1 or 2 will break Into your first team meaning you can sell an older player and not need to replace them because you already have a wonderkid who just spent 4 years on loan ready to come in. Adding to this always check your loans in January if they haven't played over 15 games recall them and find them a different loan

I use the units tab in the training section to have my youth players training with the first team. That way i can leave them in the u18's but they'll still get better training.

Personally I don't train a young player in a role until he hits maybe 21/22. I've found that way you end up with a more well rounded player. If you only train Sherif as a poacher for example, he might turn out to be a good poacher but he will be deficient in many other attributes cos he has hyper focused on these specific ones. I prefer to leave them on playing position up until there rapid period of their development is over (I think it's about 21) that way in this period ALL his attributes will grow rapidly (albeit with less focus on each one) and so I use the additional focus and highlight 2 or 3 key ones he will need and train those at 3 month intervals and go to the next one etc. At 21/22 then I swap and start training them in a particular role and at that point it will become more clear of what type of player he is becoming but he will be more well rounded. I used to do it this way but I'm now certain it's better this way around. I've seen much better results from it. Training a more mature player in a role makes sense as his rapid rate of attribute growth has slowed and he can then focus on more key attributes.
