Hello friends..Just a FYI .You can replace just the sensor only on the back of the hub assemby Pn kia 58980 -B2050..

Please explain more. Isn't that what he did? Can you comment on a mechanic saying the abs sensor makes it impossible to drive the car over 3 mph? Is this possible?

@@nancyla866 No, he replaced the entire wheel hub. All that really needed replacing was that black cap with the plug on the back. And no, that mechanic is an idiot. All that happens when a wheel speed sensor goes out is that the ABS (and the Traction Control) don't work. But the car still drives normally.

Please answer this question... if the sensor fails will it cause the a kia soul 2010 to only go 3 mph? Can you still drive it? We had the backup sensor replaced (after stripping the bolt, they drilled it out for a decent price) now they want $650 to drive the car! They say the abs is the cause. Is this even possible?

That is highly unlikely my friend….whats the 650 dollars for?……what is they are saying you need?….the car should still move normally.

@Gasdieselgarage It's for the abs sensor I assume. We are going to look at the car soon. What should we do? Try to drive it? The back up sensor is supposed to be working. What else could it be? Thanks for responding.

@Gasdieselgarage well you were right. No such thing as not being able to drive the car with faulty abs. We were also ripped off for the repair of the backup sensor and bolt issue. They charged $150 for one helio coil! I expected a $300 job but it was $650! Never go there again. Meredith tire and auto in land o lakes fla.

Ours has soft peddle, the dealer first said it was master cylinder, replaced, nope still the same, now thay say its the HECU and kia has had to fix over 2 million of them so far but they say they checked everything and mine has to be replaced, the cost is $1000 AND TOTAL OF $2000 before taxes and cost of loner and 3 to 5 days to get the part, IF THIS DOES NOT FIX IT ... what scanner is that and what do the cost? Thanks

I had a ABS light come on around 8 months ago (but it would come on and off after I washed my car) cost me $400 to replace at dealer. Now again I'm having ABS light come on (sometimes after I was my car) and it will go off..maybe just stay on a few minutes. What could be causing this?

Why did you buy an entire new wheel hub when just the ABS sensor housing on the back of the hub comes off and can be replaced? A wheel hub costs roughly $40, and the ABS sensor only costs about $15.

You’re absolutely right….but in this particular case the wheel bearings were making terrible noise when driving

Kia trying to screw me, they said that the codes do t tell them which sensor is bad and I had to replace all of them, I’m guessing my 2016 is the same as a 17
