Oh wow, this is genuinely the first time I've heard about the "DDC issue". I have several XBOX Corona motherboards. Most of them have Southbridge or GPU problems. One of my slim corona has this issue. It's stock, it takes forever to boot, there is no optimal resolution, which I find it weird now I know the issue. I guess I have bad luck with corona motherboards. Thanks, Josh, for this informative video. Your videos always fascinate me.

Good work. Impress. I have a problem with a Trinity. It starts but hangs in the 360 boot logo. There is still no RGH conversion on it. But I really didn't want to do it without a clever boot into the dashboard. Do you have a hint for me ? I already pressed the sync button when booting but without success to delete the alleged system cache. Oh yes, I recently had a jasper 256mb arcade in my hands. Unopened with error e69 ... Cable renewed from DVD drive renewed. Everything perfect.

Hanging at 360 logo = 4gb memory unit issue usually. Try to unplug it.

why not turn off Display Discovery then setting manual to TV resolution?? im doing this rather than repair SouthBridge.. im using HDMI.. when turning ON Display Discovery again detect as DVI again..

That's a band-aid workaround. It does not fix the problem. This video discuss how to fix.

Hi I'm enjoying your videos! I have a Falcon JTAG and it has a problem where the HDMI signal is all glitchy and covered in blocky artifacts but when I use component AV it is fine. Have tried the usual like different cables and different TVs but always same result on HDMI. The signal also doesn't change by putting pressure on any of the chips. Could this be a DDC issue? Although I did check and it does show a recommended output. But I am just not sure if it could be the GPU even though it works fine on component cables? Any advice is appreciated!

Hey. What if it shows HDMI (not DVI) but show's no optimal resolution? Yet the symptoms are occasional artifacts and crashes? (pretty random tbh) checked red light error code is 1013

What if you get a Trinity that has no display with HDMI, composite or component but you get sound? Cause thats what I'm having with one console I'm trying to repair. Changing resolutions doesn't fix the issue. I've tested it on a CRT TV and flat-screen monitors. Could it be the Southbridge or the HANA chip?

Ok but what if it doesn't transmit to the TV in general because mine doesn't connect to the TV and it stays at a black screen even connected to a monitor and I suspect that my HDMI port might be bad

Have a couple slim trinitys that only beep but will not power on. When 12v is manually switched on the system fans go 100% but no boot. Any clue where to start at?

@@Josh.Davidson Thank you! Ill check these leads out today. I just got these 3 slims in a trade,and was testing them with a phat 203w power supply before buying accessories for them. Don't see any hot spots under a thermal cam,and noticed most of the caps around the power plug down to the hanna chip all have Continuity across them,which i think points to a short somewhere,but without being familiar with the 360 i didn't have a clue where to start as there is nothing amiss visually..

What if your console loads the pictures at normal speeds, but there isn’t an optimal resolution? Is this an indication of a DDC problem?

Can be. Check the resistances if he is abnormal. Also it could be that your monitor not support DDC. If another Xbox gives optimal resolution option, then yes it's DDC issue. But if all your Xbox not show it, then your monitor just does not support DDC, no problem. Really you need multiple factors to diagnose it properly.

i was fighting with my xbox 360 slim that had only composite video, but then i realized that I was hooking up in 4k tv, I switched to a 720p display and it worked, I hope this helps someone.

That doesn't sound right... definitely a HW issue. It should detect the supported resolution and offer up to 1080p.
