I’ve been using a Dremel universal 1 1/4 flush blade for diamond cut. Your two part method looks great, specifically for taller Sylvester’s.👍

Question on the mulch... What brand is it? Does HD or Lowe's sell it? It has a nice bright color.

It’s called soft scape mulch, it’s last a long time like a few years, but it’s like $18.00 a bag, but you won’t have to replace it every year. No it’s not at Home Depot or Lowe’s. You probably would have to find it at a gardening place.

Mark how old are you Sylvester Palms and how old were they when you got them. Also how cold does it get in New Orleans. I am in Austin and I want to get a Sylvester for my yard. We get down to the 30"s in the winter. So in your option how does that tree hold up in the cold.

You won’t have a problem in the winter, it has been in the 30’s before and I didn’t have any problems. I don’t know how old they were when I purchased them, but they was about 6ft. Tall at the time, so they probably was about 7yrs old. I have been having them 4 yrs now and they are are about 12ft tall now, you should get them you will luv em.

Dude , you need to hire me to show you to HOW to really diamond cut a Sylvester. That job was horrible. I charge 50.00 per foot and that includes staining them afterwards That is not diamond cutting a palm . Sorry , if I could send a photo to you to see a read diamond cut
