Hey man, just a quick thought; you mentioned about not using handbrake because you don't like using it. When pulling the handbrake I noticed you wasn't clutching in at the same time, in reality... whenever you use a handbrake (especially in Rally or in Drifting) you want to be clutching in so that you remain in control when the handbrake is released as most hydro's operate simply attached to the rear brake disc (like a motorcycle handbrake near a clutch for stunting, simply just another caliper fitted.) just like you would when you are braking under normal circumstances. The longer you pull the handbrake, the longer you lock up your rears (on purpose) therefore breaking traction momentarily when you need it however, the amount of force should also be taken into consideration as when you pull the handbrake hard more pressure is given the quicker the lockup, softer you pull the slower the lock up, stabby movements good for those moments you need to really save your ass. Or simply just keeping your line right whilst completely sideways using clutch + gas to send it. Hope this came across as helpful not as a being a dick, it's just something I really noticed and from personal experience (been driving virtually since as long as I can remember with a wheel since like Forza + Gran Turismo). Overall though, f***ing awesome video. I'm simply here just to re-train and you given good insights, so i'm not here to mock you as there's certainly techniques I need to brush up on but first time getting Dirt Rally 2.0
@RoadsideTV084 жыл бұрын
My timing may be a little off in all reality but I don't think the game takes that into account when using the handbrake, I could be wrong though. The main reason I do it is kind of out of habit and so that I can build up boost and torque to power through the rest of the corner/exit. Unfortunately as of right now I believe Dirt Rally handbrakes are set up to be either on or off, I don't think they have a gradual curve like handbrakes do IRL, again I could be wrong about that though. No worries though, I don't take anything in a wrong way as long as it's constructive. Thanks for watching the video and I hope you enjoyed it! :)

Well anyone that's ever pulled off a handbrake turn in a RWD/4WD knows you have to use the clutch otherwise you'll stall the motor
@apertureinfocus71933 жыл бұрын
@@codysykes5568 This is very true. even in a FWD car it happens. Regardless of virtual or real, if you don't dip the clutch before you pull that handbrake, you're screwed. It can also damage the clutch / gears as well. Thank you so much for simplifying what I was trying to say. I don't drive a real car however it's not to say that I haven't. I've riden motorcycles and driven a fair few cars over the years.
@apertureinfocus71933 жыл бұрын
@@RoadsideTV08 I think in the case of Dirt you're absolutely right. I think Dirt5 may have resolved that though I'm not too sure. It's not more for yourself to be honest, it was for people who sim race / don't drive I guess. When building the boost, I tend to just half depress clutch right before it bites, increase revs and drop it like it's hot. Entering corners I use the momentum of car to flick sideways, depress clutch, downshift, pull e-brake, then just before i hit the apex whilst in that momentum; clutch again to catch the revs, and apply throttle out if I feel it's over correcting then i'd just touch the footbrake. "Slow in, fast out" style. It's a ballsy move though. With shifting also, I tend to block shift (low / high gearing similar use to driving a truck.) So from 5, 3, 1. 50+mph, 30-50mph, 10--20mph. Up into 2nd then 4th then 6th (if 6th gear car).

It was so funny watching you try and talk about FWD as though you knew what you were talking about, and the suggestion that any of these cars “didn’t have handbrakes” mwuahaha priceless. I grew up living on roads that most people consider rally roads and have been driving them since I was 5 years old on everything from ATV’s to Heavy machinery, 4x4’s and sports cars. Handbrake is one of the BEST ways to break traction for FWD on corners, but you only tweak it and only as you near the right spot IN the bend, not before, otherwise the car oversteers and you end up pulling into the hedge (just like you did). Everything else was fairly accurate, nice effort, and nice presentation.

Wow i have been subconsciously tapping the brake before turns for that reason but i never knew why. I guess i failed so many times i figured it out without knowing how it works thats cool

pff man.. free play... why didn't i think of that.. haha, But today i did it! in the Lancia still, the first car, but everything clicked today! I finished Argentina decently! Not first, not last, just... decent.. Find it a real hard area to drive, due to the unforgiving rocks and drops. Doing it in VR going for reality, no hud or anything else, steering wheel and 3 pedals, manual shifting via the steering flippers and handbrake is a button on the steering wheel.. The dream is getting a stick shift and a hand brake as well. Slowly getting there ,but.. anyway.. i think i got the feel now.. i am driving the car instead of crashing it ;) Anticipating the corner by what my co-driver is saying and etc...The biggest trick for me was.. treat it like a car and not like a game, hehe. Let my base be driving the car normally, as i would in my own car.. and later... when i am more comfortable at it.. then add the left foot braking and whatever non-normal-road use techniques are used.

Isn't actual svandinavian flick (or at least how most do it): Your right foot heel keeps throttle somewhat up, so you already got enough revs when you come out of break and/or gluch. You tilt that same foot so your toes handle breaking. And left foot handles just gluch?
@sicksixsiX_24 күн бұрын
What you described is called “heel and toe” and it’s for rev matching
@timppaUT19 күн бұрын
@sicksixsiX_ No its not. Its for keeping revs in optimum torqou/power range.

I've been playing Dirt Rally 2.0 for one year now and my car has never stalled. How does that happen?

for front wheel drive (double note this for the fiesta) you want to keep the throttle on, turn in, then add brake. some cars you need to lift but you really should avoid it. team oneals has a great video on it. but by lifting youre loosing speed and stability

Were those socks Saved By the Bell? Thanks for this video. I got my first racing wheel and thought it would make this easier.

This game was a breeze when I started off with a fwd but as soon as I beat the first event and bought a rwd car I started eating shit every damn turn😂
@oxmate6 ай бұрын
so is this game best to set it as auto then manual and instead of useing your brakes can you use your handbrake?
@RoadsideTV086 ай бұрын
I always set it to manual, more fun for me that way

Hey man what are you using to get the wheel / pedal info onscreen? It's not built in to DR2 is it? Thanks!
@RoadsideTV083 жыл бұрын
No, I'm using Cortextuals Dirt Telemetry, a quick Google search and you'll find it, it's very easy to install.
