Thanks for this video✅ Is there a reason you cut the top? Can you not cut the top or roots & just plant the divided clumps?

I live in Texas on the coast. When should I start planting them. Right now it is September 5th. I love them but have never planted any. Do they need sun or partial shade?

Wow, I want to do that! I have lots of daylilies this year (went berserk at a clump sale last autumn). How many fans will grow from one fan in one year?
@krikli1639 жыл бұрын
NancyToday From my experience, if you plant 1 fan, it will grow one on each side of it. So 1 fan will produce 2 more. However, if your lilies are in a big clump, only the outer fans can produce another daylily. That's why division is so important if you want more plants. This is all making me think I should be getting to work on my favorite daylilies!
@davidunderwood43418 жыл бұрын
As many as 5 from my experience. I started 2 years ago with like 5 plants and now have at least 300 healthy, good sized daylilies in 1 gallon containers ready to sell in summer 2017, I will most likely divide half my stock, and sell the rest so customers will get a full, multi fan plant that was divided the previous Spring that had all summer and the following spring to grow!

Can this be done with hybrid types as well?
@dustinhoover34376 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, what do you know about propagating daylillies and patents? I have around 50 rare varieties that I am propagating, but not selling yet because I am trying to figure if that's legal. They have varietal names and everything.
@SparkyOne5495 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by rare? Are they registered with the AHS? Regardless, it is legal to sell unless the hybridizer has a specific contract with you. Daylilies can sell for more if they have a registered name.
@mimichan58647 жыл бұрын
why don't you just separate the rhizomes(like I do) replant the fan cuts? I pull 200+ rhizomes from 3-4 plants. js
@alexiadalton33296 жыл бұрын
Hi! New to this. So you can propagate dallies from simply planting the rhizomes?
@thatlittlevoice82922 жыл бұрын
Daylilies .. because even gardeners can have too much of a good thing.
