Since my elderly father decided a few weeks ago to give me his mazda mx 5 mk3.5, practically unused, I have been buried in KZbin, watching countless hours of detailing videos. My Dad had a ceramic coating on it applied by the dealer who sold it to him and I have been trying to unpick from hours of video tutorials how I wash and maintain a car like that with no previous experience. Without a doubt, your videos and I have watched many of them, are the most detailed and useful videos out there. I have just subscribed and see that you don't seem to have a huge following. Many other detailers seem to have an agenda to sell you their own branded products but your agenda is to empower the enthusiast like myself to do a fantastic job on own cars Thank you. I wish you every success going forward

Thank you! And thanks for subscribing! You might like my recent video about the microfiber wash process and I have a more full video on the perfect wash process coming really soon! Statusdetailstore.com sells everything I recommend. But non of it is my product. It's just what I personally use and recommend in a simplified store. So you don't need to figure out what soap to use out of a catalog of 60 soaps. I'll also never expect any sponsors that are detail related. It would ruin the integrity of the channel and brand. So future sponsors need to be completely outside of detailing.

After I use cure on my car do I need to throw the microfiber towels I use away. Like I would after wiping off a car with an actual coating? Excellent video! I really like these long extremely thorough videos. I’m a extreme diy car guy! I really geek out on all the processes and technical bs lol. I’m getting ready to polish my dream car and put my second ever ceramic coating on it. I used DLUX on my wheels cause of the huge amounts of brake dust my car makes. It’s helped so much. So much easier to clean and keep clean. I chose gyeon synchro kit to apply to my car. I hope it’s a good choice? I’ve watch so many how to polishing videos and ceramic coating videos now I’m wanting to make sure I have all the info I need to properly maintain my coating after I polish and coat it. I’ve set aside two full days to do this process. I almost enjoy cleaning my car as much as I do driving it. I have a 21 Shelby GT500. God it’s so fun to drive just a bitch to keep looking its best with it being solid black. Thanks

Your videos are so straightforward! I love them. I have black painted wheels which are now ceramic coated. Is that EZ detail brush safe to use with my wheels (behind the wheels, on the brakes and barrels)? Or should I only use the Wheel Woolies?
@STATUSDETAIL
@STATUSDETAIL 11 ай бұрын
Both are great. I like wheel woolies. The EZ brush kinda flings dirt around. Typically back on me. But it's also the best way to reach hard places. The woolies have three sizes and also fit almost every setup tho. Gloss black wheels are next to impossible to not swirl out long term. Your brakes basically shed metal fillings. Rubbing anything like that with friction will slowly build swirls. Brake buster. And pressure wash and foaming will be the best process but don't lose your mind trying to make them swirl free forever. If your bothered by that I recommend matte black wheels.

Hello Awesome video. Firstly I want to thank you for doing videos like these. Most of the detailing guys that are on KZbin aren't creating videos like these that target guys with passion, guys that would like to take care of their car in garage adding coatings or topper on their own. Most of the times you will hear stuff like: "you will need to take the car to a certified installer bla bla bla bla etc because there is no other options etc". Also I'm curios how does Gyeon EXO bonds to another coating if usually coatings have tendancy to repel things? Also from what I saw and read most of ceramic coatings have solvents in them which they evapore while installed (the flashing period). If the existing coating has no solvent and you add a new coating on top how will it bond? I'm curios does CarPro has something similar with Gyeon EXO? I'm having CarPro CQuartz uk 3.0 one layer and because the area where I live (a lot of dust in the air) I've noticed that the coating is kinda getting beat, although I've used products like Gyeon WetCoat, CarPro Reload or CarPro Elixir. The part that I didn't done was the panel prep.
@STATUSDETAIL
@STATUSDETAIL Жыл бұрын
Glad you found status! Definitely subscribe as I have way more coming! I think you meant gtechniq exo. Exo is chemically designed as a topper. It's designed to bond to a base coat of CSL. In another words it's designed to bond to a existing ceramic coating. Carpro makes gliss and it's the same idea. Gyeon makes skin and it's also the same idea. However skin is only offered in a kit called synchro. That's mohs Evo plus skin.... That's a big screw up in my honest opinion. Because no one should buy both to just use skin. In my experience a fully cured and hardened ceramic coating can also be topped with another ceramic coating. So you could put uk over CSL. Or CSL over mohs. But you wouldn't want to do a install then do that 30 mins later. That's going to chemically be weird lol. If your doing it 6 months or a year later that should be fine. Technically it's 7 days to fully cure and harden. The things you mentioned to revive are adding protection. Like wetcoat and elixir. You may need more cleaning and decon. Carpro lift or gyeon foam. Or clay. Or gyeon restart. Carpro descale etc. If the surface has built up gunk and contamination then putting more wax like protection on over that will not resolve the baseline issue of a clogged coating. Once unclogged you do have the right idea. In severe situations a very light fast polish may be needed to fully fix the surface. This is even id personally add exo back over to fortify the remaining ceramic 👍

Great video! Do you ever use a drying aid application like Bead Maker when drying your high-end vehicles or just simply rely on the blower and towel?
@STATUSDETAIL
@STATUSDETAIL 3 жыл бұрын
Love this question Tony!! I dry the car with the blower and then I typically grab that 500 gsm blue towel or the drying towel and spray it twice with cure and dry any tiny little drips. I wash my personal cars twice a month typically. Every month is winter usually. Busy with the business lol so I let them sit semi dirty often untill I can take time for a proper wash and not rush. If I was washing more often I would blow dry pat dry any little spots with the drying towel. Because I wash less often I like to top off everything with cure. A sacrificely layer basically. I'm not a fan of bead maker. But I know many people like it. It is certainly ok to use if you enjoy it.
@tonym.599
@tonym.599 3 жыл бұрын
@@STATUSDETAIL So no need for Panel Prep or clay bar... Once a month or so after completing my maintenance wash (car already has a ceramic coating) and after blow drying the car, I can use a drying towel with Cure applied directly on the towel to complete the drying process. This adds an extra layer of "ceramic" protection/shine. Right?
@STATUSDETAIL
@STATUSDETAIL 3 жыл бұрын
@@tonym.599 Correct. Panel prep is used to prep for fresh installs of ceramic or ceramic sealants. So when your just "waxing" during your regular routine no panel prep is necessary. Clay bar is only used when needed. It's kind of like going to the emergency room. You don't just walk into the emergency room because you can when healthy. Clay bar is used only when the paint feels rough or seems to have contamination that did not get removed from your wash. Then we must "go to the emergency room" get the clay out and fix the contamination. If your car is ceramic coated and cleans up nice and is smooth and beads water as it should no need to clay. That is a process in general is not needed very often on well maintained cars. Maybe once a year or so. Cure into towel and or a spray or two on the panel. Both are fine but don't spray 20 sprays like bead maker lol.
@STATUSDETAIL

@@tonym.599 You can use those cellophane ultra thin plastic bags they use in meat and produce departments as a kind of glove to go over paint. They allow you to feel any rough or embedded contaminates in the paint. You can tell a huge difference after claying a car and using the bag again. On something like a driver or a vehicle parked outside etc. something maintained all the time and inside should be smooth most all the time after a wash. At most a fallout remover on occasion.

Question around ceramic coating… for cars that have a matte, satin, or frozen finish, do you recommend these same products or a different product? New subscriber and really enjoying this channel and the content you are posting!
@STATUSDETAIL
@STATUSDETAIL 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing Dave! Very grateful for new subs who check out my videos! This is a great question! Crystal Serum light and exo both work on matte and satin. "Frozen is usually the bmw word for matte/satin Ceramic tends to add a little color change. So matte might SLIGHTLY go satin. I recently had a pretty experienced ceramic customer of my store put crystal serum light on matte factory blue on a range Rover. He reported zero color change. I have seen it change slightly when I put a thick layer of ceramic down on application. I have never had a customer notice a difference. It's very subtle. This issue is not a big deal on satin as it's already slightly glossy In comparison to satin. Gtechniq makes ceramic called "halo" and it's for matte satin and ppf. My opinion is it's not very good and has poor durability. I think it's a cash grab product to solve a problem we never had. Because we put csl and exo on gloss ppf for years with remarkable results. It was also ok to use on matte satin if you asked a gtechniq rep prior to Halo. I don't sell Halo but it's certainly available if your interested in it. Gyeon makes a matte specific ceramic that I believe is better than gtechniq halo. I don't offer that either but it's certainly a notable mention. Outside of that gyeon makes matte cure. I have put Normal cure on matte and satin but I'd be careful doing that like super often. The big no no is using traditional wax and filler waxs. The kinds that fill in fine scratches on gloss paint. This alters matte and satin greatly. It's also inexpensive and what you find In auto zone or a home Depot auto section... Easy to avoid for most part. Do not use wash and wax products either. This is gloss polymer based and fills in the valleys of a matte finish making it more satin. Watch out for auto car wash, wash plus wax options. Similar cheap soap/wax Bathe, reset, Foam, and Lift are all fantastic soaps for matte and satin. They have no fillers and no gloss enhancers. They are made to clean gunk out of your ceramic coating to restore a clean ceramic surface. This is exactly what you want on matte or satin regardless of having ceramic on the surface. Love great questions like this. I should do a video on this topic 🙂👍

@@STATUSDETAIL Appreciate the reply... this is very helpful. I've seen a lot of the BMW Frozen owners praise the Dr. Beasley's product that have matte specific washes and products, as well as a ceramic product. Also have seen some folks praising XPEL's ceramic product, but it's tough to determine what's salesman/marketing vs actual testimonial from an end user, especially since vast majority of folks have gloss finish on their vehicle. I'll definitely check out the soaps you listed. Would definitely welcome a video on this - while they certainly aren't for everyone, there aren't many high quality resources for detailing matte paint and your videos have been much more informative than vast majority out there. Keep the content coming!

@@davegenet5401 I have used Dr Beasley matte ceramic. I did a G63 with it and pics are in my insta if your curious to see the finish. I believe that and csl are similar but the Beasley coating retained more matte look. Crystal Serum light blows away Dr Beasley in durability tho. Id take durability in this case due to 99% of people not noticing the color change. I usually tell customers it will add depth and look deeper or darker. By no means does really any ceramic fully turn matte gloss. Fun Fact Dr Beasley, like us is also located in Chicago!

My wheels are ceramic coated and I currently use a PH neutral soap to wash the wheels. I have a concern that using P&S brake buster will effect the ceramic coating over time on the wheels. What are your thoughts?
@STATUSDETAIL
@STATUSDETAIL Жыл бұрын
Depends how often your washing I suppose. Twice a week every week? .more? Then maybe. If you wash that often you won't need brake buster on ceramic coated wheels tho lol. Washing every week or every other week or once a month? I'd say brake buster is going to be helpful. Either way you can fosn with ph neutral soap if It works well then hey. It works! I'd be more worried about routine iron x type products from a durability stand point. Thank you for watching 🙂

EXO works great on basically every ceramic coating but if you're coming off a dealership ceramic coating you might just want to strip that off and redo it with a proper ceramic coating and then EXO on top of that If your next question is how do I strip it off. Is Brake Buster recommended for wheels and calipers that are ceramic coated?
@STATUSDETAIL
@STATUSDETAIL Ай бұрын
It is safe on ceramic in the sense that it won't complety strip it like a acid wheel cleaner. Brake buster is pretty mild. But like all cleaning chemicals they will slightly degrade coatings over time. As in over years. Nothing will effectively clean and not like hurt durability in tiny increments. That's why I highly recommend you use something like Gyeon wet coat on wheels and glass and paint Basically adding a little bit of a sacrificial layer. Brake buster is very forgiving and safe on all wheels and carbon brakes as well. I highly recommend rinsing ccb with a lot of water after you put any chemicals in contact with them. As the veins inside might have chemicals hanging out that you can't see. Best to give back and forth in driveway a few times to ensure it drains the inside out completely. Long answer To a great and complicated question 👍 keep em coming 🙂🤝

Technically it's what's used after a pre wash. Technically speaking in a jam you can use reset as a first foam. Dwell. Rinse. Foam again with reset and contact. I'd rather see you use lift or foam from gyeon during that first foam tho.

is there a such thing as over using ceramic detailers like cure or reload? i usually wash my car 1-2 a week so would it be bad if i used it once a week or is that over kill?
@STATUSDETAIL
@STATUSDETAIL Жыл бұрын
No such thing. It's actually good in the sense that if you don't use it and you have the bottle for many many months it starts to kind of go bad in the bottle and not spread into the car nicely. So using more and going through it faster ensures the product is fresh and working as advertised. Many ceramic sprays are almost to good value. Because you don't need much and last awhile. So your average car guy or girl has it way to long on the self and it goes bad.

I am now confused and I’m not sure if I’m the only one but maybe I can be given some guidance I don’t know much about ceramic coatings just bought a brand new vehicle and I was told it had a $5000 ceramic coating done on it and they gave me a bottle of car pro reload I was told I can’t use soap to wash the car and I’m not really sure how to maintain or do anything any product advice and tips would be appreciated I’ve been watching these videos and I’m not really sure if I need to stay with all car pro products or one so if a list could be provided I would love to order and then I can do the research on how to apply but this car will be driven and I just want to know how to keep the ceramic coating in daily maintenance or weekly maintenance and then long-term maintenance thank you
@STATUSDETAIL
@STATUSDETAIL Жыл бұрын
Let's keep it simple. You can wash it with any quality soap from a reputable company. Especially companies like carpro. Gyeon. Gtechniq. You definitely need to wash your car. At least 1-2 times a month of it's being driven often. Products like Gyeon wetcoat or carpro hydro should be used as often as you feel financially comfortable with. So every wash or once a month or once every three months. This is ceramic spray and rinse sealant that bonds to your ceramic to keep it healthy. Reload is great. It's a spray and wipe ceramic based wax. After a proper wash and you have a clean dry car. You can apply Reload. That's basically the only time you can use it if your using it correctly. If you have other questions lmk! Check out statusdetailstore.com all the products have good descriptions and should help you understand what you might need

why not foam the car before rinsing to prevent the dirt on there already from rolling around the paint when you blast it with pressure washer? prefoaming letting it dwell a minute and encapsulating the dirt and grime, then pre rinse. 👍 then you can refoam and contact wash without worrying. ?

I’ve learned that all detailers on KZbin are just sales agents, either for their products or through some kind of behind the scenes partnership. They get free products to hawk and you’ll see the same products pop up around the same time among them. They never have to buy products. They’re sent to them as influencers, so their overhead is basically water and electricity. Their “loss leader” is the “how-to” video like this one. They give that away so you’ll copy them by buying the products and equipment they use.
