I've been using this method on my pool for 2 years now . Works great. I use a 15mm isolation valve to control the water flow . And it works better if you take the water from one side of the pool and return it to the other side of the pool. Plus suspend the pump about 2 inches from the bottom not near the top.

How long does it take to heat the pool? How hot?

Sent to my grandson to help heat his pool next year. Great idea. I may even set up the smaller one I have next year to see if it will heat that one up along with it's solar cover.

Nice video for showing how simple this is for people to do! You’re bang on with the ‘not too fast, not too slow’ you have to tailor the heat energy output compared to the electricity used to pump it… One slight change to make - put the pump input further and deeper from the heat output… This way you take in the colder water at the bottom to ensure the pool heats more evenly.

Nice video filled with good tips & trix. I'm setting up a solar powered pool heater right now and my goal is 30°C / 86°F in the pool. I'm starting with 250 meters / 820 feet of 20 mm / ¾ inch PEM hose in a flat rooftop setup. A 20V rainwater barrel pump (2,000 liters - 528 gallons / hour) will be connected directly to a solar panel, so it's a completely automatic system controlled and powered by the sun. No sun = no pump = no heating. Since I'm located at 60° latitude in the northern hemisphere, I'll guess it'll be some problems and math to solve along the way, but it'll be fun. Keep up your good work

Thanks! Going to try this only with a pump outside the pool and with an inline shutoff to slowdown the waterflow for hotter water. ✌

I am hyped about this. Can you do the same thing for a Jacuzzi? Let me know. Thanks.

You should be able. Being a smaller mass of water. It should heat faster . Because being a Jacuzzi. Adding more coils to get it toasty. Is a good idea.

Did you see the grill heater hack? Can you try to step by step explain that. Would it work with a small grill
@XclusiveChiq
@XclusiveChiq Жыл бұрын
Basically, you do the same concept but instead of the multiple coils… you attach it to a copper hose, and throw that hose on a grill (im gonna try a small one) so no suntanning the coils! The water will be boiling! Set it inside the pool and you should be set. Can you try with an affordable grill?

I want to do a setup like this, and am wondering if the pressure from the bottom drain hole would be enough to push the water through the hoses? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but when we drained our pool last fall, I was shocked at how much pressure came out of the drain hole, so that got me thinking...*edit - our pool is 6600 gallons (18' round x 4' deep)

Good idea. I bet that would work. May have to play around with how much pipe you can get away with seeing as it will need to lift the height of the pool.

How would you connect it to your pool filter instead of the little pump?
@Jazz-ji9zu
@Jazz-ji9zu Жыл бұрын
That's gonna depend on your system. I would put it last in the system, after it's chlorinated and filtered.
@andrewrivett3366
@andrewrivett3366 Ай бұрын
I have a salt water pool and I generate the chlorine through the salt cell at night. That's the standard set up. During sunny days just switch to the drain setting on the filter. That diverts the water to the hose. Keep in mind that you want a system that circulates a good volume of water. If you use too weak of a pump or a hose with a narrow diameter, you'll get hot water ok but the volume will be insufficient to effectively heat the pool. I recommend using the pool pump..much stronger...but don't make it work too hard by using really narrow pipe...sure the water will be hot but you'll toast your pump....too much resistance. The goal is to heat lots of water a little bit, not a tiny amount of water to a high temp.

Several of your links only go to "related searches" so not sure which kne you used. Like the pump. We have a 20 ft pool and are thinking of using 500 ft of the tubing. We aren't sure what pump. Also couldn't see which adapter you used for pump to hose.

The only problem with this is the tubing was not designed for high temps and wont last long before breaking down and start to develop cracks

inflation 😂🤣 . but seriously. to bring cost down you can also use the pools pump. to avoid the cost of a pump. also in our case we bought 500 ft of hose but you can always buy less. instead of our own table. laying it, in the ground will provide very similar results. also for the connectors you don't need to buy a set . you can always buy the ones needed. in our case we bought the extra hose and connectors for our garden. hope this helps. 👍😊
