This is Joe's response to a question posed earlier this week. Here Joe goes over some more jumping fundamentals and shows the skater how to achieve rotation in the air.

I like skating in my button up shirts, specifically, my denim button up. It kind of meshes with the roller skates, I like the look for some reason. I like to unbutton the sleeves and tuck them up, or fold them over once or twice.

Mr. Enthor, do you have any advice on people who are thinking about trying to get into the artistic roller skating world? I've been skating for years, but I've suddenly become intrigued by freestyle artistic. I don't know if I'll try to go competitively with it, but I would love to at least look into it and try it out. Where should I start? How should I go about looking for a coach or instructor?

I personally suggest that since you have access to the internet, there are a bunch of roller skating tutorials here on youtube that you can learn from. You may also wish to scholarly study the physics of the human body and how balancing works. I've just barely got into aggressive skating and have learned a lot simply by watching others, looking at tutorials, and remembering how I should move my body to maintain balance.

I'm a self taught inline figure skater. I have always skated on inlines nearly all my life but I took an interest in artistic skating a few years ago. I purchased inline skates specifically designed for figure skating about a year and a half ago and I have been teaching myself by watching the videos on here that I can find on it as well as ice skating videos and translating it for rollerskating. If you are really interested theres a good amount of videos on here that show good technique and tutorials that you can pick up on. If you would like to see some of my progress you can check out my inline figure skating playlist here: kzbin.info/aero/PLOCu_4UmfFxuk6C7hUj7Treemc7088jWo

360 was my favorite. But we had a lot of speed and did the jump higher. Our 360 was almost like an axel.

i know thisis an old vid, but do you put a foot in front of the other for the jump?
@JoeEnthor5 жыл бұрын
As you start to rotate, your feet stay under your hips, you bend your knees, as you rotate your knees straighten to cause the jump.

I was going to watch more of your vids, but I can't take the vertical shooting... it's like so much of the shot is missing, whoever shot this... don't do that - it's very disturbing~
