Today was my first day using a baitcaster and I just started to sling it like this cause it was easier for me.. cool that it has a name.

Great video Glen, I always love using the backhand cast. The lure entry seem to be more accurate with this type of cast and I feel like I have better control with the rod and lure prsentation.

I've only been using a baitcaster for little over a week now, (prolly 5 times fishing ) and my accuracy is craaaap when I'm trying to flop it next to cover. I don't have a boat so I can only fish on the banks lol

Adjust your spool tension without any breaks on. Next turn your brakes on half way. Also fill your spool to about 80%. If you do these things you'll have much better performance.

Damn Glen, you make that look so easy.

Thanks Trent. I've been doing it for 30 years, so I've had a little practice. LOL. Happy to help others learn how to do it.

Thank you! You can get there too. It just takes practice.

Awesome video Glenn, thanks! I've been practicing casting ambidextrously rather than using a backhand lately. Are there good reasons to go backhand over left-hand sidearm cast?
@bassresource7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely - you have much more control and accuracy with two hands on the rod.

this was first or second cast I learned with baitcaster, first was regular sidearm actually . The regular overhand you would do with a spinning rod was actually toughest for me. I thought this cast was like backhand with a tennis racket, why I clicked on it. I suck at trying to cast that way.
@bassresource7 жыл бұрын
Glad to help, lukkyluciano. Let me know how it works out as I would love to see the results.

What's the difference between this and a roll cast?
@bassresource7 жыл бұрын
This casts the opposite side of the roll cast (sidearm cast).

Ok, I'm going to have to go get a bait caster and start doing what he said. stand on a bucket and practice and then practice over hand.

what rod is that
@bassresource7 жыл бұрын
That's custom rod using a Rainshadow Eternity2 rod blank and Alps components. It's my favorite rod.

I cast this way as a side arm cast lol I barely cast any other way just habit
@coryklein847 жыл бұрын
haha i made this comment before you started talking about the rod. lol
@1299AA6 жыл бұрын
I don’t really think that this is a backhanded cast. When I think of a backhanded cast like I do, I bring the rod across the front of my midsection and cast forward like playing tennis.
