Kind words, thank you. I'd not thought of that, and how when playing a CEO or a king - or any character who thinks he's one of those - a care in movement may help some of the lines make sense! John.

Hee-he! Well kind of you to suggest I'm speaking well, and do remember that no accent matters very much nowadays, everyone speaks differently - ! - what matter is that we should all try to speak clearly and with some kindness in our voices (something I frequently forget to do, I'm afraid in the madness of Covid), but that's all anyone really needs in their voice. @@NewYorkActingCoach Growing up on the other side of the canal (Nederland) I was used to the British accent (that's what we learned in school) but the films on the "telly" were mostly American with Dutch subtitles. Still, I automatically fall back to the British accent. It seems to come more naturally to me and I've always liked the way it sounded. Thank you sir. Stay safe and sound.

@@sarahspaceslippers The point being they have varying accents within their country and these accents are still British. Not everyone in Britain is English ( the accent he's using and one that is considered middle class, spoken by a small percentage of the British population). There is NO SUCH THING AS A SINGULAR, DEFINITIVE BRITISH ACCENT. Brits who don't speak with this accent and who make up the vast majority of the British population get a tad bit ticked off when this is continually represented to foreigners as being the accent of the British Isles! Which is made up of 3 home countries England, Scotland, Wales and the province of Northern Ireland. That's why my passport says the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. England is not Britain but only a part of Britain. Here endeth my little diatribe for today 😂.

Yes, I know what you mean. It's strange that we should 'like' feeling part of a country, and enjoy certain British phrases and sounds, - it's something to do with wanting to be part of a community, I suppose, and of course no accent matters nowadays, - even with American actors trying to do usually not-very-good British accents - what matters is that we speak clearly and with some kindness n our voice sometimes. So thanks for watching and hope you get some sleep! This madness will end eventually. John Windsor-Cunningham

On the internet, I don't know how people still don't know, they're called koreaboos because of their love (some obsession) over Korea, and they usually keep Korean profile names or profile pictures as Korean pop stars. Closely related to weaboos, the same but for the Japanese lovers.

Good! Whether I sound mad, or you're just enjoying it the MOST important thing is to have fun when working on this. And - as you probably know already - nobody cares about anyone's accent being perfect nowadays: what matters is that we speak clearly (and that we know, if we're actors, what is behind our lines). So - yes, just laugh at it all, Sounds perfect to me. You might try my MadEnglishman.com website, but that may not amuse you so it's just an idea. John.

Having had a very 'nasal' Dutch accent for many years, I always wondered why people told me I did not sound British whenever I tried to, despite spending a tremendous amount of time with my British friends. When I saw your videos 4 years ago, I naturally picked up the accent after just 20 minutes, never being able to revert back to my old one again. My friends would often ask me if I am sure I am still the same person, baffled by the change! Sometimes my accent dwindles into an accent soup again after spending time around the Dutch again, but I always come back to your videos to refresh my accent again and it always helps. Thank you so much for these videos!

Well we each have our own 'way' of speaking, and you seem to have found yours very interestingly. I always say that accents don't matter and that the only important thing is for us to speak clearly and with some kindness, in our voice, but you remind me that what is more important is to be happy about it : so thanks for that! John

Sorry, didn't mean to sound like that. I think it's just the way the accent sounds to Americans, it sounds as if it has an attitude, but honestly it doesn't, it's just the accent ( ! ) But thanks for pointing it out. John Windsor-Cunningham
