I thought this was going to be discoloration, like from bleach. But now I will try a bleach paste with an ink consistency.

No, discharge printing removes the dye from the cotton fabric and burn out printing removes the fabric itself. So you'll get a semi-sheer effect when you do burn out printing on a blended fabric.

At DTLA Print, they use a 2-part ink made by Jantex, but there are many brands that sell it - just look for "Burn Out Ink."
