Agree that any dance step should be first shown from behind- for someone trying to first see the step from front then trying to reverse the footwork to move correctly is just adding extra mind twister.

Keenly, since I was trained a lot in salsa dancing, I do know that since Mambo had Cuban roots, that is why generally, the strong beat in Mambo is on the "2" and not the "1". So the mantra here in this mambo basic step is this - if you do not hold on beat 1 in this step - you are not doing it right, and if you start on "1", you are also not doing it right.

Differences - Technically, Ballroom Mambo steps 2, 3, 4 with hard hold on 1 (don't move). Salsa steps 1, 2, 3 with soft hold on 4 (swaying).

Mambo and Salsa are VERY similar. The biggest difference is in the frame of your body and some various styling techniques.

That is NOT Salsa. Salsa has a complete different body movement. When you think that this is Salsa, you don't know anything about dancing Salsa. This is Mambo Ballroom Style not the original show mambo by Perez Prado, but it's not Salsa or Salsa Mambo Style. And it's NOT Salsa on 2. Perhaps you should take a look how to dance Salsa because you got no idea of it.

Guys salsa evolved from mambo and rumba; it became salsa in Cuba when danced to Cuban local songs and rhythms, the dance and song tempo evolved a bit over time due to Cuba's isolation. Don't be surprised if they look similar
